We have a fairly ordinary gum tree but at this very moment it is a mass of flower and the bats at night are still making whoopee with the flowers....a week later! Wondering if this amazing flowering season due to hot dry summer?

@brightcolours sorry it's taken so long. This isn't a great pic but it's very overgrown there. Blue line is original tree. left hand shoot/branch is coming out of it but the larger right hand one originally grew from below it. There is still a large bulbous base underneath these trunks which makes me think it was a graft. Have no real idea though. 😊

I'm not at all familiar with grafted eucalypts. But I'd say that's what has happened here, given what you said in the previous post on this gum. @nej ?

@diannezchilds both those shoots, left and right large one look like they are coming from below the graft.

Help me identify this plant. #plantid My #gum tree has a #flower #blossom!!! Not what I was expecting though. Think this might be from the original root stock. But still very happy. 😊🌸🌸🌸

@brightcolours @nej @deekay Bought it about 15 years ago - it used to have beautiful pink flowers. Nearly died each summer in the barrel container. Replanted into ground last summer. First flower in about 5 years. 🌸🌸

Lovely flowers congrats. I am afraid I am not good with Eucalypt ID's @diannezchilds

Most odd... So the graft has died off?

8w

@brightcolours That's my guess, but I actually have no idea. This was a new offshoot but it's been around for several years.

Can you see where the graft is/was?
