Still don’t know it’s cultivar name yet but here’s a day time picture of it. PlantID #bromeliad-id #foliagefriday
Now that I see the blooms better It looks like a Vriesea carinata bromeliad
Such striking colors
I hope it’s that @txgardener it doesn’t quite look like it’s going to open flat, it’s opening just like the dwarf blue tango, it’s just starting to push itself out so it could be and is what you say it is. I love Flaming Sword and would be very happy 😃

Help me ID this #bromeliad it looks like it could be like the Dwarf Blue Tango only not the same color, obviously 🙄 @txgardener @hannahchristine @emch @richard.spicer.7906 @beatnikcrab @TexasTanya PlantID #bromeliadid I’ll take a better picture tomorrow in daylight from what I can see it grows just like dwarf blue tango, same leaves just different colors on the bloom stalk #foliagefriday
MAybe a type of bromeliad guzmania @docthrill
It really does look like one of the guzmanias but they don’t have those saw blade leaves like this one. @hannahchristine I thought it might be too till I compared leave. It has leaves just like the dwarf blue tango the flower stalk looks like it could be the same too only orange. Hard to tell witch it just starting to open
Try Aechmea distichantha maybe? Apparently they come with or without serrated leaves, but I can't find whether it's a subspecies or what. Not sure if the inflorescence color matches. There's a v. schlumbergeri that has yellow tips. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 'Blue Tango' is an Aechmea as well, which is why they'd look so similar.
It looks a bit like a flaming sword I had a while back
@beatnikcrab and @bluefox23 both your suggestions are close but not it. @beatnikcrab yours is the closest
@docthrill AECHMEA X 'ROZANNE looks like it is family to the aechmeafasciata a clone
Thank you @hannahchristine
Sorry, I'm clueless about this family, as much as I like the #spectacular-flowers
Gorgeous! Wish I could help. 💗
Found this pup hiding on the mama plant. Now I’ll have 3 of this species. You’ll have to scroll from the right to see what it’s going to look like flowering
