This begonia lost all of its leaves this winter and has resurrected this spring. If you think your #begonias are dead, wait till spring before you toss them in the compost bin. 70 percent of the time there just dormant and will return come spring time. 😊 don’t murder your begonias, lol 😆

I did the same with the one I had. The leaves died one by one and I assumed it was my fault. Such a valuable lesson David. Thanks so much. 👍😍
@docthrill question for you, do you continue to provide limited water for them if they are going/are dormant (stop them from completely drying out)
@kylers yes only watering them twice a month
@emch and @hkyfvr just consider it a lesson learned and keep trying. Now if the start loosing leaves in the spring and early summer, you’re probably over watering them. Remember water from below and have a water meter to know there water levels. Let them almost dry out before watering again. I do remember you telling me you tossed your Raspberry Tort Eileen. Funny 😄 but not funny
Thanks David. Yes I tossed my Kit Kat in fall after the leaves died off one by one. Or so I thought. Now I will try again. Can you suggest a good one to start over with ?
@hkyfvr Rex Begonia Casy Corwin, Rex Begonia Jurassic Silver Swirl, Begonia Looking Glass, Begonia Gryphon, Rex Begonia Harmony Red Robin. All of these I’ve named are very hardy. Just can’t over water them. You need a water meter and only water them just before they dry out. I water mine in a water tray and just a dab of water in the top.

The leaf on the left is its original color. I almost killed it 6 or so, months ago and it has come back to life. Shiny under flash
One of my first begonias and I almost killed it, but with a little love and care she’s coming back strong. That makes me very happy so she will be beautiful again
And in turn this looks not at all like the "Raspberry Torte" I killed deader than Elvis. The leaves had a broad pink picotee -- no spots -- and more of the same pink in the middle of each leaf, which had an arresting swirled shape like unto "Escargot." Except for the tattery edges...
It did have all the look of raspberry tort until I almost killed it. These are all new leaves witch makes it hard to ID until they mature to size. @emch you were the one who helped me find the name before it wilted. I’ve also learned recently if you think your begonia is dead it just might be dormant, as long as the stem or rizome looks good, new leaves will grow back
What about attacks by marauding kittens though?
Lol, I remember, your black mamba, has those leaf cuttings from that incident take root yet ? I’ve read that black mamba is really hardy and propagate easy
