@drnicko The fragrance of a gardenia is divine. I've only once tried to grow one many years ago. From memory I don't think it lasted beyond one season. 👌🏻
@angipangi Mo the secret is a homemade soil-less mix so that no water stays on the roots, it just drains away. I collect all different gardenia and grow from seed. They are special! 👍👍
Thanks @drnicko They are indeed special. Don't know if I would try again but it's a different age now. In the past you had so little info on the label of a plant & unless you found a specialist book on the particular specie at an out of reach price you were sunk. Dr Google has his/her uses. We'll see🤔
Oh I have tried, tried with gardenias a few times.....they would grow beautiful buds which always fell off before blooming 😢 @drnicko I may be up to the challenge to try again since I love their fragrance! Could you pass on a link or info on the soil-less mix idea if possible?
@riakat I have a post on here about my soils I make, I'll link you into it!! Just to let you know I grow easily lots of different types of tropical gardenia's from cuttings and seeds, including Tahitian, Augusta, four seasons, Miami etc in these soils and none have died. Bud drop is usually because the environment is not right, gardenia must never be overwatered and have specific day/night temperatures. If you ever need any help, just ask!! 😃😃
Gardenia "Four Seasons" in bloom 😎😎 #tropicalplants #fragrance #gardening

Fabulous. If only I could grow and keep Gardenias. I've never been able to keep one for more than about twelve months.
@johninbrighton gardenia's always seem to bring back fear of plants that don't live long life's in people!! 😱😱
