I just bought this sad looking succulent from a big box store that was kept indoors with very low lighting. I'm making it my mission to bring this little guy back to health! I believe based on the very little ruffles on the edges it could be an extremely etoliated #echeveria-shavianapinkfrills #succulent #succulents #etoliation #rescue

What you see here is the amount of light it got from the indoor garden section

Looks like mine did when I got it. Garden section. Like. Literally just two things that they should be able to handle: Light, and water. But they never give them any light, and they put 30 gallons of water in each little pot. 🤨 I get that chain stores don’t make money off the plant sales, they just rent out the store space to companies like Altman Plants or whomever, but like. Why does Altman and such keep renting the spaces when stores don’t take care of their property? 🙃

@heelerpup I think the majority of people buying succulents aren't doing any research before purchase, and they don't know what conditions are right or wrong for the plants. I guess the company makes enough money anyway to make a profit off of renting the space

True, there’s a lot of impulse buyers, and a lot of people buy them like a bouquet of flowers, with the intention of them being short lived. And even us well informed buyers add to the profits with our “rescue buys”. I don’t do rescue buys, but I do ask for discounts, which my Walmart nearly always gives me. My Home Depot just keeps the icky ones off the shelves, so no discounts there. Plus what are companies gonna do, hire spies to go to every store they rent from to do plant care checks?
