Gardening is a passion for me. So far I have cultivated container garden, now developing a garden around our house, mostly on weekends.

Lovely, but it looks like a bunny! Just needs some eyes.🐰🐇🤗 Magnolias are great, I have a very old one. Must be 50 years old. And a lot.of it is dying. Needs major trimming. Probably needs replacing. 😞

Yes Michelle, it sure does look like a 🐇. Never realized it! Is yours a big tree?

Spread out wide and maybe 16 feet tall (sorry for the feet, in measurements we are a backwards country. And I can't do math in my head) 🤗

Then transplanting will be a task @purplebird

No, not transplanting it replacing it with new baby/young one. This one is dying , I believe of old age!🤗 Yes we will have to cut down the old one to make room for the new one. If I put it in same place. Gets wind there. In windy years the blooms get torn apart.😞

Good morning. Is this the plant locally known as Kavathi Chafa??

Another strange thing about this is that it loses its fragrance in short time! @Pushkraj

I've noticed. It has a very faint fragrance, like the fruit (Kavath) of the bael tree. The petals start falling before the flower ever opens entirely. And the buds are prone to drop prematurely too. It's a difficult plant to grow.

When it opens in the morning, you can smell the fragrance even from long distance! I too have sonchafa and white fragrant chafa (alba). All three flower quite well. @Pushkraj

First flower of this magnolia tree of the season. I have it in a large pot for last several years. #plantid-magnolia #white #trees #fragrant

It sure looks like Kavathi chafa, a species of magnolia grown in pots. If it is, then the botanical name is Magnolia coco

I love this magnolia! But it makes one wait for a very long time. I was thinking of shifting mine to a larger pot this morning, and I came in to see this! It must be a sign..

@Pushkraj yes, it's kavathi chafa. And I realized it's Magnolia coco! Mine is in a big pot.

I grow five types of "chafa" - magnolias ie. green, yellow, white, kavathi, and naag chafa. But only three have flowered. The green and naag species need to be older before they flower.
