Magnolia x soulangeana

Good morning everyone! ☀️ Well the birds are very active this morning, it's much nicer waking up to birdsong than my alarm clock (although 4.30am is pushing it a bit) 😂 How much do you love Magnolias? We have a few close by that are simply stunning so I've bought myself a couple that can be grown in a pot 'Red Lucky' - not shown in the photo as they haven't flowered yet 😍 #magnolia #magnoliatree #spring

Morning Ellen! I absolutely love magnolias! I've bought myself half a dozen over the past decade but haven't managed to get any of them to grow! This year I'm trying Red Lucky too although it's looking like I've bought another expensive stick at the moment! 😀

Mine too at the moment @bigemrg 😬 Fingers crossed for next year. I'm told the roots like to be shaded & using incredibloom can be helpful plus a mulch. These red lucky are my first ones as we don't have room for another tree, so potted is the way to go (hopefully)!

@pelly I've wanted one for years but just no space so I'm giving red lucky a go, great for a pot apparently!

Yes, mine is potted up too as space is at a premium! I have shaded the roots and mulched with plenty of bark! I was hoping to see shoots by now! Good luck with yours! 😀
