Gardening in mostly deep shade in Zone 6. My passion is adding more native plants to my landscape & clearing out the foreign invasives.

This forlorn stick, # 5 in the "Forlorn Stick" series on my feed, is the Carolina Allspice I bought last fall. #fragrant #brown

New home for the Carolina Allspice is the spot previously occupied by the smaller of the two "Ginger Wine" Ninebark bushes. I gave it considerable fresh potting soil and a dose of rank-smelling Jobe's Organics granules. #fragrant #midwesternnative #brown

Can't believe I found this at Specialty Growers!!! It was their very last one and I have wanted one for DECADES. It not only blooms #brown and is a #midwesternnative but it's several kinds of #fragrant -- the flowers smell of spices, hence the name Carolina Allspice, and the crushed leaves are supposed to smell like Eucalyptus. It also looks suspiciously similar to the yellow-leaved mystery plants sprouting up around my Sweet Potatoes. Could it be I have more than one? #curiouscases
