Thrilled to realize that this somehow self-seeded! #fragrant

The dumb, stupid, idiotic lawn crew who have NO business in my flowerbeds took it upon themselves to do this to the plant before I could harvest the seeds #iwillsue

Oh dear.

I drove past the Equestrian Center yesterday and noticed that the paddock right by the road was lined with large Angel's Trumpet plants coming into bloom. Isn't it supposed to be a terrible idea for horses to be in with "loco weed"?

This was left in the entryway at work, potted up but without a label. Something about it says 'nightshade family' to me; the leaves remind me of my physalis plants. Any ideas? #plantid

Do you think it could be Datura? The leaves look like it to me but I can’t tell the size from the photo. @emch

I see what you mean, @cheriej -- each leaf is a couple of inches long at most. I didn't think to rub & sniff

I also thought it might be datura.

If it's still there tamale I will steal it @sushiwaitress @cheriej

@sushiwaitress @cheriej Plant Net confirms this is either an Angel's Trumpet or a Physalis...maybe lol. Taking it home and seeing what emerges in the way of blooms. Before anyone else calls 911, the bench where I found this plant is normally used to deposit items that are up for grabs.

guess it's a #mysteryplant for now. How awesome if it turned out to be a brugmansia!
Self-seeded Angel's Trumpet is weedy and poisonous, but the stunning, powerfully #fragrant blooms makes me feel that #weedsarefriends
