This is a great year for Poke Salad! The plants were so gigantic I had to cut them back but there are still lots of berries for the birds to eat this winter... #midwesternnative
Poke salad?? The berries are poisonous to humans, but are you saying the leaves are edible?
None of it is edible @sushiwaitress but apparently the word "salad" meant something completely different when Columbus landed...
@sushiwaitress I have apparently steered you wrong. Pokeweed IS edible if you boil the tender young leaves 3x, changing the water each time to remove the toxins. Apparently even then it's toxic enough to clear the roundworms from your intestines. A guy at Reddit posted that fact yesterday. Yum! 🤢
