@emch hi Eileen, totally off topic, but I saw in your profile section that your trying to get rid of foreign plants and trying to get more indigenous plants in your garden. Quite a few years ago, I spent several months volunteering for the DNR in WI. One of the jobs was burning foreign grasses to allow American grasses to grow back. The DNR people I was working with allowed me to use the flame thrower! What great fun, I'll never for that three months in the midwest ❤

@ericplummer -- weren't they afraid of killing native species into the bargain!?

@emch not really. It was over a huge area that presumably had at one time been seeded with none native grasses and they wanted to start from scratch. I think they'd been doing it in other parts of the state for quite a while.

@ericplummer it says a lot about how bad things must have gotten!
