Gardening in mostly deep shade in Zone 6. My passion is adding more native plants to my landscape & clearing out the foreign invasives.

Not again! I planted a lot of these 2 years ago -- they're my favorite -- and they did great the next spring but now I have only 1 left. This is what happened the last time. What the funk am I doing wrong? I AM DISAPPOINT.

It has to grow new bulbs. Takes about 3 years. If it doesn’t grow new bulbs, they die out. I put bone meal on mine in the fall for fertilizer. 🌞

Dang that stinks! I have similar luck with calla lilies (amongst others!) And I've given up on foxgloves and african daisies

I'm not sure that's the problem @sunlovin because out of the 25 I originally planted, only 1 survived after the 3rd winter and that one bloomed yearly ever after. Now, 2 years after planting 25 more, I have one at each end. I suspect the buck-toothed bandits are behind it although I don't know which specie has an interest in eating "Bronze Charm" tulips and no other variety. Why won't they eat those hideous "Torontos" instead???

It could be critters. I have Bronze Charm but I can’t remember if they are still blooming or not. I’ll try to check soon. 😊🌞

Tulips have many problems - it’s best to treat them like annuals and replant every Fall. Deer and rodents love them.

Not all tulips perenialize well. Some will bloom for 30+ years, others only 1 season.
