I was thrown to learn recently that very little of the tons of corn we grow feeds anyone at all, not even farm animals. #curiouscases

That is not good

What happens to it if it isn’t used for feed? 🤔

30% is animal feed, and most of the rest is made into "gasohol" which cars can use instead of fossil fuels @jacaranda

Looks as if only 1% of U.S. corn production were for people to eat, @jacaranda !

Corn with a little something extra: #fungusamongus #notmyplant #notmyphoto

Hmmm... a little you say!

That’s a fungus 🤯

I hear it's delicious @dadayba but I'm not about to try it... 🤐

Wow... Thought it was a parrot head, like Cockatoo's 😅

This year I'm noticing that the critters nip the germ out of each corn kernel and leave the rest alone... #curiouscases #wildlifewednesday

Fussy little critters…..😯

Not everyone's harvest was equally good this year... #midwesternnative

Oh . It's pretty though 🤷♀️

That's the cutest the thing I ever saw 🤭💚

Cute, but it's not sweet corn! This #glassgemcorn is a decorative variety & inedible. But it is soooo pretty! 🥰

#mutant with two cobs in one. And if that's not weird enough for you, take a gander at this: https://www.reddit.com/r/plantabuse/comments/xnnukp/sorry_but_wtf/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

That video is wild!

I know, right @lesliecole49 !

A lot of that around here too 🌽🍽

#notmyplant but I know the guideline is that it will be a good harvest if the plants are "knee-high by the 4th of July." It's June 30th and these stalks are up to my shoulder!
Right now, the corn stretches as far as the eye can see in every direction... #anticipation #notmyplant
