A bit late in the year but we had very little frost 🤷‍♀️ They’re drying out still and I have another pot to do that I should’ve done a while ago 🤫

For the first time I'm leaving mine in the ground and pots 😱🤔 fingers crossed they survive.

If they’re not too dry they should be okay, mine had started to rot :-( @sieveheadsarah

Earlier in the year I dug up dahlia tubers, gave them a ruddy good clean, put them upside down in newspaper covered pink crates (seen here). I transferred them into the shed (dark spot) but forgot to put them in sand/soil/vermiculite. Do you think they’ll still be okay?

I would have thought so. I always wrap mine in newspaper once they've dried out and store them in cardboard boxes in the shed! Just make sure they get a good water when you plant them out again once the risk of frost has passed! ☺️

Most of mine are wrapped individually in newspaper inside a cardboard box Emma .....yours should be fine 😊👍

Brilliant, thanks guys! @bigemrg @flof1952 I thought it would be okay, my dad also confirmed it should be okay but still worth getting more opinions. @Keely

Should be ok. Coincidently, I'm trying the opposite this year. Last year I did this and most survived. But they did shrivel a lot. I'm trying something different this year so we can compare notes in the spring 😀 - I've put each one in an individual bag with damp soil and perlite to hopefully just keep up enough moisture.

So on GW last week I saw Monty with these crates to store his dahlias. Pink isn’t my colour but these are great for aeration :-)

So this year I've added grit to pots when starting off dahlias in the hope the slugs will go away!!!! Also added a bit of extra good compost/manure as an experiment to see how well they do.
