@friarsrd I just got one today, not planted yet. It looks a bit dog-eared from the snow last week so I'm wondering, can I cut it back now when I plant it? When I cut back to first string bud, is that leaf or flower bud?
I’m no expert - just put them in last year. I think it might be best to put them in as is, then cut them back next spring once they’ve got established. They went in from garden centre last March so this is first year I’ll be cutting them back.
Cut back to first strong bud each late April to avoid them Getting very woody over time www.unglamorous.gardener
