@Gardeningian yes they are perennial. If you cut back hard after first flowering it should give a second bloom later in the year.

It's Centaurea Montana ( Purple Heart) common name Cornflower. I have some in my garden they are pretty bought from Claire Austin a couple of years ago 🤗

Beautiful flower - I did see 'Amethyst in the Snow' at the garden centre yesterday, early flowering Centaurea I think it said. 👍🏼
