Tried growing up through drainpipes
I think it increases the length of white stems you get and should be more tender. They made a very tasty leek and potato soup.

I am experimenting with growing leeks in drainpipes. They are a cash crop. I planted them in late July after my Charlotte potatoes were harvested. I hope they will have longer white stems #gyo #leeks

It does doesn’t it Lin? Gerry gave me a tour of his garden today as local and they are progressing well. Will be interesting to see the results 😁 @linfoster
These were from just one row. They have longer white stems. The experiment was successful especially considering that they had roughly 2 months less growing time as they were planted after early potatoes had been harvested in July.
Sorry I have not posted for some time. I broke my last phone and have only just started using a new one.
