I have been so excited about my #danceline #tulip coming through for the first time but they are not looking good. The soil they’re in is a a bit clay-ey but I think slugs or snails might be to blame - any thoughts??? #advice 😭😭
Yep, need to put slug pellets down (or other slug/snail deterrent) through the winter until flowering time as last winter was so mild the snails/slugs never left/hid from the cold 😰
They still came up beautifully last year even despite the slug damage but this year no sign of them at all so far. I fear they haven’t made it through the winter!! 😥 anyone else’s tulips late this year??
Sometimes tulips just don't come back year after year - I think Monty Don said he treats them as annuals 🤷♀️ I've had some like yours in the photo and some that come back year after year - maybe it depends on the variety?
Thanks Anges, I’ve discovered about 7 are coming back (out of 20 or more) but they have been ravaged by slugs again. I’ve put some slug traps in but I think I’ve lost most of them. What you say makes sense. 👍 Thanks so much.
Slugs are a complete pain! 😃 glad you've got the 7 though. Just a tip - when you reply to someone, put @ in front of their name eg @anges - this way the person sees your reply automatically in their notifications 😃 Happy gardening 🌷🌷🌷
