So spent more than i would.like on this it was watered when I bought it brought it home and after it dried out a week or so later i watered again and now the leaves keep getting squishy and dark brown near where it meets the dirt and im.losing leaves rapidly. Its also happening on my macrophylla. So upset 60 bucks down the drain and gonna lose 2 amazingly.beautiful.plants that I wanted so bad. #planthelp #overwatering. ? # brownsquishyleaves # help.
From what I could find online, it looks like overwatering. Maybe the soil you bought them in retains moisture longer than it should and a week wasn't long enough to dry out?
Too much water for sure. They could have been purchased with root damage from too much moisture. Take them back if they progress negatively. Treat these like succulents water only when soil is fully dry. Less is better than more. Good gardening!
When I repotted them they had almost no roots tbh I figured they potted up cuttings. Lesson learned I will.always give a tug u know @lovestogarden
Also I dont know if I have a receipt for them anymore so.not sure about returning them....i would feel.weird returning a plant lol. I would have expected better quality plants from a boogie store like the one I got them from. I waited till soil was dry to water and everything. And the leaves were easily folding into a "taco" @loves to garden.
@gjones they definitely werent established like I said one barely had any roots at all and was a bunch of seperate plugs in a pot. I got a macrophylla and pubicalix for the 60 not very big ones and not rooted all a bunch if seperate plugs
I am guessing they want to make you happy. Take it back even if you feel strange. I should think a bourge store will want to make it right - receipt or not. If not, at least call them and see what they say about the trash they sold you. Just a thought. 🤔
Thanks for giving me confidence to.do.so. as of.now the leaves that are left seem ok. I was thinking about taking a plug from.each and putting in water what do u think? Just for insurance? I recently got roots on a water propagated Hindu rope? @lovestogarden
Yes, they root wonderfully in water! That would be good. The leaves also root, but I have not been as successful with them. If the roots did rot, rerooting would work.
I have rooted leaves from different hoyas but they havent began to grow new plants. None of them so I would rather try a group u know @lovestogarden thank u for all your responses. U are so sweet
Oh, my pleasure. 🤞 Let there be roots!

Spent more today than I wanted to but was overjoyed to find a #hoyapubicalyx I am in love with her already
So I'm down to 2 leaves on my #hoyapubicalix and im admiring them now before I lose them. The plant didnt pass the "taco test" and the dirt was super dry and it had been awhile and it still ended up overwatered. I have had no luck with hoyas it seems and they are supposed to be somewhat easy. I dont get it but I hope these keep going and make a comeback.
What is the taco test?
When u fold the leaf and it folds up like a taco... If it doesn't easily fold then the leaf has enough water @madnessbroken
Interesting! Thanks for sharing!
