Besides cacti and fruit trees, I’ve been trying to plant trees that aren’t used much commercially, but are still suitable for the desert and produce edible products. This palo verde will probably never need much attention from me and it’s seeds are edible making it a prime candidate 😁👍
@referee101 actually I am planting both of those lol love them ! And it depends where you are lol California is huge. In LA county alone(area around LA) I can go from snowy mountains, to sunny beach, to pine Forrest, to desert , to urban core(rooftops patios restaurants)..but the Mediterranean climate is probably limited along the coast maybe 10 miles in land then it’s lots of valleys mountains, Forrest and deserts
@referee101 those too!! Man we think alike lmao do you watch growingyourgreens on youtube lol those are all species he says grow great in the desert and ever since I watched them grow in Phoenix in his vids I knew they be perfect for lancaster!
I haven't watched the growingyourgreens videos but I did watch theveganathlete Jake Mace's videos about hus garden in Tuscon Arizona with over 200 fruit trees. I'm from South Africa. We have a mediterranean climate here where I live. I'll be planting Jabotikaba, carambola and pomegranate next.
@referee101 😂😂the vid I watched is actually the channel narrator going through jakes desert Forrest 😂 his garden was an inspiration to my garden! Wow South Africa! That’s super cool! Good luck with your planting! I I’m trying all those as well when I get the chance !
My wife and I will be comming to the US in May. California not on my list though. Looking to buy property in Georgia or somewhere in Arizona. My property is small here I think I can fit another 10 or 15 trees
@referee101 are you trying to farm or live in the city? some of the cheapest land in the USA is in the deserts of Arizona and cali so if you have a green touch and like the desert I’d recommend! Easy to turn nothing into gold when it’s dirt cheap lol
Yeah I've seen some properties sell for dirt cheap in flagstaff, cochise and apache county. All I need is a 4 acre lot. Not really interested in farming though just want to plant a shit ton of fruit trees edible plants, some veggies and luffah...Especially luffah. I like my luffa sponges Go of grid and live a happy life.
@referee101 yup! Easily under 1k an acre all over the desert in a good deal. Good luck to you I’m sure you’ll find a good lot! If you like cali I’d recommend lancaster California..lots of cheap land to build farms or homes and close to big cities but in the middle of nowhere 😂
