I believe there is still a population in Dorset so not quite extinct here yet. It was never a native wild flower though but was accidentally imported with crop seeds from the continent. Once imported seed stocks became cleaner it started disappearing.
Just Googled this and yes you're right Aaron. It was rediscovered in Sunderland and elsewhere in 2014. I've just obtained seed for next year of the variety Milan Snow Queen. Very much looking forward to seeing that in flower!
I grew 'Snow Queen' last year and it's a beautiful plant! Although usually listed as a Agrostemma githago cultivar it is actually a cultivar of a different species, Agrostemma gracilis.
Such a shame that this is now extinct in the wild in the UK.😦
