Mina and zinnia potted on π

Ah! glad to see you sowed the Zinnia in pots. I have too but it says on the pack to sow direct. Not that any of mine have germinated yet! π al looking good there though Sam! ππΌ

I've been porting on too, running out of the right size pots now, @rachelbrooks I often sow seeds in pots that day did direct, you can keep a better eye on them & they grow quicker π

Read a lot of conflicting advice re these so gone with my gut instinct .. apparently don't like root disturbance but if o sow direct I don't think any amount of Strulch will keep the π off them or the little πΆ @rachelbrooks suspect yours will be up soon these germinated after a week ππ

Similar problem here too @angiecrazycatlady π± eking them out and being ruthless .. only the strongest survive π very true much easier to manage and keep an eye on in pots Angie π

Isn't it hard to be ruthless though, I can't help but feel sorry for the weak seedlings ππ

Yes Angie nearly shed a tear π’ but know from experience the stress of keeping all my babies happy and healthy @angiecrazycatlady

Your as daft as me πyour right though keeping weak plants never turns out well π

Soppy as the come Angie πππ @angiecrazycatlady

I didn't think they'd make it direct in my thick clay Sam and Angie. Can't even remember when I sowed mine now...maybe last weekend..? But they are outside so will maybe take longer to germinate @angiecrazycatlady

You're quite right Rachel heavy clay can be an inhospitable environment for seedlings π± @rachelbrooks

I haven't got clay but I worry I'll get carried away with weeding & accidentally pull them out so apart from wild flower seeds I usually sow in pots π @rachelbrooks

Mina lobata update

Crikey! They're going great guns!! ππΌππΌππΌ

They are getting a bit overexcitable @rachelbrooks πHave mine in a deep root trainer hoping to not need to pot on and just plant straight out next month π€ they are in seed compost so next step is moving into greenhouse and then a drop of seaweed feed me thinks π€ yours went in later than mine Jason which was more sensible π @Jasonsparkes1

They sound strong then π and that is my modus operandum do or die ππ do you have a windowsill they can chill out on for a bit before they go out ? You probably won't need to give them anything I only am because they are so far on and there's virtually no nutrition in seed compost @Jasonsparkes1

πππBless them π @Jasonsparkes1

πππ yes John it has hysterical π flowers ,,, no seriously it has orange/ red flowers .. or I hope it will if I can get it through the next few weeks .. no idea where I'm going to put them all ??? @ukjohnny

It's a plant I have wanted to attempt for a long time very excited to see it flower all being well ... "that" that would throw me would throw me too π @ukjohnny

Mine too grammar was never my strong point ... @ukjohnny
Just realised Mina has got it all going on #red #orange #yellow

Hi Jane I hope you're having a good weekend π. @pelly
That's beautiful π
Today was my only day off this weekend but we went to Easton Walled Gardens which was fabulous Sam. 15 years from a ruined estate to what they've achieved to date and still very much a work in progress. Fabulous πππ @icedance

Thanks Thomas took along time to come out but worth waiting for π @tn89uk
