Veratrum nigrum

Unusual and stately the thin upright stems of Veratrum nigrum branch off to slender dark purple flower spikes. The deeply grooved mid-green leaves enjoy part shade and a moist soil.

Saw this for the first time this week at a local nursery. Very striking! Does it spread much? @igrowhort
