The gooseberry bushes all look lovely - should have a good crop this year. I need to pin the side shoots back some more so that the light can reach the heart of the plant - they are prickly little blighters as well!!

I've picked off the first mid June gooseberries, which you should do, as the plants will produce a second sweeter crop. I gave them to Vanessa, as I have no clue what to do with a gooseberry lol

First crop of gooseberries can be picked in about a week. Exciting times. This is the second year for those. Looking lovely.

This is the new side shoot growth which the Internet says should be trimmed within a 5 leaf range in June. Tis not June yet and it looks a mess!?!

Help! I should have trimmed this back in winter but did not want to as I only planted it last spring. Now it's gone nuts! I'm thinking of pinning the branches out espalier fashion to ease over crowding in the centre but don't know whether I should actually trim anything this late?
