These are the leaves on my recently acquired acer. The leaves aren’t filigreed like a palmatum, more traditional maple shaped 🍁 Has interesting red stems too #foliagefriday #maple #acer #acer-japonicum #ajaug22

Red stems are good. They give interest when the leaves have gone ❤️❤️❤️

Love the way the foliage on acers change through the seasons and this one had great deep pink tinging around the edges. @juliesgarden

When your heart over rules your head…completely smitten with this planter and fabulous acer. Got it home. Struggled to get it out of car into the garden. Then reality dawns. Wrong type of acer for a container. Not sure there’s anywhere I can accommodate this fabulous acer. Don’t want to think about the practicalities of getting the acer out of the planter either 🥺😢 #planter #acer #impulsebuy Still love it though! 🫣

That what we do with shade loving plants🪴we see something, fsll in love, then get it home, Google it and realise it needs shade, which we have very little of in our garden. We always squeeze them in somewhere though 😁

It’s a beautiful combination, enjoy it and figure out the best place to accommodate it later. I am sure you will find a suitable place in your lovely garden 🪴 🥰

Tell me about it! Sometimes you’ve just got to have a particular plant and you worry about the practicalities afterwards. I think my husband despairs of me at times! 😆 I could do with pinching a bit of the neighbours garden, that would be one solution! 😅😂 @angiecrazycatlady

Sorry, what am I missing..why is it the wrong type of Acer??🤔

From what I can gather, unlike the acer palmatum, I haven’t been able to find any reference for growing this particular variety japonicum Vitifolium in pots. It grows up to 4x4m. Also I’m a little concerned regarding removing it from the planter in view of the roots and shape of the planter Jason. Apprehensive to say the least! @hebelover

Yes us too, the annoying going is our neighbours at the back, have a huge garden and do nothing with it, just 2 trees and grass
