Mandevilla sanderi An attractive. climber, Mandevilla sanderi (syn. Dipladenia sanderi) comes from South America and is sometimes known as Brazilian jasmine. It belongs to the plant family Apocynaceae. It has pretty, funnel-shaped flowers in colours of pink, white or red from late spring till autumn. It seems to do best in a large pot, growing over some sort of support such as an obelisk or trellis.
I have one Mandeville sanderi rosea. Love the way they keep changing the names I wonder why they didn't do this originally as they mostly come from the same family.
Jason I was looking through what was in this family and saw that Hoya belonged here as well I hadn't thought about it being tropical. Showing my ignorance no doubt. I grow my mandivillas together and keep them as a shrub I don't have the white one with them as it is larger but like them all.
Sorry for the confusion I have the red and pink Mandevilla I grow them together and cut off the tendrills so they don't climb. Looks quite pretty when they flower I will post. They showed the cyclone on our news tonight seems to be heading for Haiti so I hope you aren't impacted so badly.
@errolly yes the storm made land fall on the Western tip and the scenes are disturbing. They are going need lots of relief if they are to move fwd. They were impacted by a massive earthquake in January 2010 and they've been struggling ever since.
