Stage 1 - What a job it was to dig up this monster & keeping it relatively intact (as far as its tubers go). No comments about about the red gardening gloves btw 😕
@wesleybrian Cheers! It's a good 7ft+ tall now & on Steve's advice @lamaisonbleueoleron I dug it up & shifted it to the greenhouse. Apart from protecting it from the frost, it may also prolong the season enough to get it to flower, as they are very late to flower in UK conditions.
@rachelbrooks It's in a very big pot & I had to really twist & bend the tubers to fut but all in! It was a really tricky operation, but hopefully worth it.
@keely. It surprised me how well it grew. It was only about a foot or so night when I planted it out in late spring. I have another on the go which is the same size as this was in the spring. Hopefully, an Indian summer in the greenhouse with prompt it to flower, fingers crossed. 😊

It's a whopper! You're going to need a big pot! 😁
Gosh that's huge surprised it fit in greenhouse but best safe than sorry 👍

Will you keep it in the pot now rather than plant it🤔
@pauline33 I think I will now, especially if I can get it to flower in the greenhouse, as it could be even bigger next year & much harder to dig up!
That's what I would do Jeff I'm no dahlia grower but always feel if roots or tubers/bulbs are restricted they are more likely to flower 👍😉
Actually @pauline33 that is a very good point 👍 I think you might be on to something there. You'll see it here first if it does flower! 😁
😂😂I'm relieved you don't think I talk rubbish 🙄😳hope my theory works fingers crossed 👍
