My neighbours is like this I cut it back in spring n its grown huge, need a bit more of a ground cut think next time and its full of black fly, although the sparrows have a good go at them 😁
@Keely that's so kind of you. If I make it to 82 & can no longer tackle the garden myself, I'd be so lucky to have a neighbour like you. I'm hoping mine will not be do tough to cut though!
I have a huge one in my garden, I left it for years but finally tackled it a few months ago...cut it right back... Typically its out of control again already 😳
This ones too big Jeff mum has this spreads like mad, I wanted something similar style to the loose strife tall and thin oppose to shrubby thank you though if you come across anything let me know, may have a look at yellow #tag 💛👍

@Keely it's my own fault as I forgot to cut it back after flowering last year. At least there's no black fly on it!
My neighbours 82 so I do most of hers but some of the branches were so thick id need loppers to get through it near bottom, may have to axe saw it!!

Lol @susanryderpaget it is incredible how fast this one has grown. I must cut it back every year after flowering I think!

@keely how about evening primrose? That grows well here, it's tall, tough, not invasive & is scented?
