My 5 yr old and I spend a lot of time outdoors in our garden oasis. I love flowers, cottage garden style! #GTseedfairy 💕USDA Zone 8b; Sunset Zone 7

@petitelake if you remind me at the end of the season, these produce massive amounts of seeds. I can send you some to sow in the fall, and they'd pop up next spring.

Start Candytuft seeds indoors 6 - 8 weeks before the end of frost season. Press the ground cover seeds into the soil but do not cover them. #sowindoors March 15th

After filling your seed-starting container up to 1/2 inch from the top with moist seed-starting mix, tamp down the soil so it's firm. Spread the candytuft seeds evenly over the soil surface and cover them with a layer of soil that's two times their diameter. If you dislike thinning and transplanting, you can skip this by using individual 3-inch peat pots. After sowing the seeds, moisten the top layer of soil with a water-filled spray bottle. This prevents washing away the candytuft seeds.

While the seeds are germinating, it's essential to keep the seed-starting mix moist. Cover the seed-raising container with a piece of plastic wrap to maintain a steady humidity level. Candytuft requires a warm area to germinate -- a temperature range of 65 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit is ideal. If needed, place a heat mat below the seed container. Regularly check the container mist the soil with water to keep it moist. Candytuft seeds germinate within 16 to 20 days.

When you see seedlings, remove the plastic wrap and place the container near a sunny window. After the last frost, when the seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them outside. Space them 6 to 12 inches apart and thin them when they need more growing space. To thrive, candytuft requires full sun and well-drained soil.
