The #smellsofchildhood 💕 Can you tag what your favorite flower was as a child? I'd love to see! #alyssum grew on a hillside of my grandmother's house in Hawaii. It always brings me fond memories when I smell it. Now, passing on down to my son... ☺️
How sweet!!💘😍
Mine were Roses and Sweet peas in my nan’s garden. A lovely pic 😍
Lily of the valley 😍😍
Hens and chicks got me hooked using them in rock gardens as a kid
My grandmother grew lily of the valley. That was my memory.
@kimguy @ublaszko I haven't seen lily of the valley yet. Sounds like I should!
@tinaaune I was big into rock gardens as a kid... But more because I love rocks. Lol. That made me remember that I loved popping the seed pods of impatiens back in Hawaii. They explode, which I thought was pretty cool as a kid. They were prolific even in rock gardens!
@susanhumphrey333 I had no idea what I was missing out regarding sweet peas until @daisy-jane sent me some seeds this year. Incredible smell! No year will be without from now on!
@ShelleySnyder he is my little sweet pea 😉
Lily of the valley has the most divine fragrance 😍😍😍
I didn’t do any this year and was sad not to have made the effort 😍

#alyssum
@jennlamaye: I planted some Alyssum seedlings 🌱 a few weeks ago and they are doing good 😊.
I love them so much! And don't mind keeping them in check. 😉 @joy4todd
@jennlamaye: I planted both the Royal 👑 Carpet and the Carpet of Snow ❄️. 🤗❤️🦋
Simply sprinkle seeds in the soil bed and lightly press them into the soil. Keep the soil evenly moist and they will germinate within one week. Plant alyssum tightly together in groups spaced only 6 inches apart to create a quicker flowering carpet effect. Keep alyssum well-watered during hot, dry weather.
@jennlamaye: Thank you 😊 for your recommendations and I will do that. They are a beauty. 🤗❤️🦋
@joy4todd making notes here on all my seeds so I don't have to research them again next year 😉
@jennlamaye: You and I are thinking alike as I am starting to make notations on my plants and hopefully to make notes 📝 on each and everyone one. I have been realizing that when someone clicks on your plant that there should be some good "FYI" along with cataloging it. It's just my perspective. Have fun. 🤗❤️🦋

@joy4todd it's definitely a plus!!

Heaven! #alyssum
I can never get any to grow from seeds. How did you do it?! It looks beautiful.
@Racheltheredhead I planted seedlings last year, and they self seeded this year. I noticed sometimes the parent plants come back too, which was surprising! I can collect seeds for you to if you would like to try again. 😊

I would love that. Would you like some cardinal climber seeds?

Reminds me of my grandma's backyard when I was a child...
Carpet of snow is an appropriate name for this. Your grandmother's yard must have been stunning! I love white flowers at dusk.
@piratedeathray it was a stunning hillside in Hawaii, full of alyssum and lantana. Definitely where my love of flowers started! :)
I lived in Pearl City for a few years! There was a plumeria in my front yard as big as an oak tree and a mango in my back yard, but it was so tall, I never saw any fruit until it fell, rotten, for me to run over with the lawn mower. :p Beautiful place. How fortunate for you to visit your grandmother there and form such wonderful memories.
@piratedeathray that must have been amazing! I miss plumeria... So beautiful!

@ktreers scan through these. Maybe I'm wrong...

😂😂 it appears little thinks it's going to!😂💘😍
You had help too
Just look at that face@🤗😘
Awww, look at him growing up!
Adorable pic
@kimguy no kidding, huh?! He's a little man now!
@ShelleySnyder I showed him this picture and he said "the flowers are so tall!" Lol. However, I'm pretty sure he's grown just as much this summer! 😉
That's so sweet Jenn! Keep gardening with him and make it fun and he'll never think it's work and will always love gardening 😁💘😍
You can really see the change in him👦💕 @jennlamaye
He’s growing up before our eyes. It’s great he’s loves and is amazed by the flowers and the whole process. These are memories he’ll remember the rest of his life🤗🤗😊💕
Aw what a fab pic Jenn,he looks amazed at their size 😁😁👍
