I've started spraying the #iris with neem oil. They are looking really raged. Will they survive next season with little to no foliage this summer? They need divided, but not if it's too much for them to handle this year. #iris-advice

I only cut my leaves back if I divide them and replant. Normal for cut leaves to go brown on the edges. They will weather the winter fine just as they are.

@maldavis thank you. I was planning on diving them soon. Do you recommend replanting them immediately or letting them dry out until the fall?

@jessielynn Go ahead and divide now. Remember to cut down the leaves so the energy is put into root production. Do not bury the rhizome. They love to bake in the sun (you can see it in your picture) but keep the ground wet until the roots sink down on the sides. I always loosen the soil first to about 3-4 inches deep to help the roots have an easier go.

@gjones just with a quick search I do believe you're correct. Do you know, do the petals of this variety not all open? I can't find any in my garden that fully opened like other irises I've seen pictures of.
