Trillium flowers are waking up

Love these Joan, still got to get some for my garden.

Rarely see them for sale Sarah as they take about eight years from seed to flower @sieveheadsarah

This is our red one @awomanonabike we have had it many years, we also have a white one that is barely out of the ground yet, flowering much later than this one Jacqueline. I have several others in that are very slow to get going!

#thrillingtrillium ๐

Oh my goodness! What a treat to see! I've never seen anything like it before!

That is lovely ๐ฅฐ

Ooh! I think Iโve seen this before in your garden Joan. Gorgeous. Where abouts are they planted? โค๏ธ

How lovely Iโve never seen or heard of it before...โฅ๏ธ

@awomanonabike itโs in a part shady spot (actually we have two the same) the other is also under a tree Jacqueline

That's so lovely ๐๐โค

๐ค๐ค๐ค

Lovely

Thanks Joan. Mine is under a tree too but there is room for more ๐

Always room for more @awomanonabike ๐

Trillium is opening up!

Love those Joan ๐๐

Beautiful plant

@awomanonabike this is one of our larger trilliums

Itโs fabulous Joan. Is it cuneatum? It looks very similar to one I saw at Edinburgh botanical gardens

Have you seen these Rachel? Do they look like the ones you saw at Beth Chattoโs garden? @rachelbrooks

Iโve always understood it to be trillium sessile or wake robin. We also have trillium ovatum but this is just breaking the surface of the soil. We have several others just getting going, they are very slow growing and can take five years to get bi g enough to flower! @awomanonabike

Thank you for the heads up! I planted my first ever last year and was wondering if it would flower this year ๐ค

Youโll be lucky if you get leaves! One of the reasons they are hard to find is they are so slow growing. But worth it Jacqueline @awomanonabike

I have leaves!!

Excellent! @awomanonabike

Is that a bud I see there? ๐

Oh yes. Lots of buds on this. We brought it from our last garden and is a well established plant. We have two like this. I have several other types that a Iโm trying to grow with limited success, they are very slow to establish Richard @richard.spicer.7906

That looks like an interesting plant Joan. Iโve not heard of it before ๐ค๐

Itโs proper name is trillium Jane and itโs a beautiful woodland plant. Quite rare as it is so slow growing I have several other types, but they can take years to flower! @pelly

Maybe not for me then but I would love to see it in flower Joan ๐๐
Morning all! Trilliums are doing their thing!
Beautiful ๐
