Cheap camellias from Aldi now doing well after I moved it from a concrete planter - did not realise they will not tolerate the lime in a concrete pot

Taking notes of all these early blooming plants! Would love to achieve year round color! 😍 Long term goals, haha. Still in the early days of organizing our garden.

I think I need to get myself off to Aldi. I’ve been looking everywhere for this Camellia as my husband wants one and this is a lovely colour but I could never find this particular one. Is it scented? I’ve read conflicting advice online some saying it’s scented and others saying there is no smell to the flowers.

@ScarletPimpernel will have to wait till it flowers to see if there is any scent. Will post the result in the spring. Don't get much worth buying from Aldi, this was just a lucky chance find.

This camellia makes a nice change from white, pink or red and seems to come with the wet better than my white one

Hubby emulsioning bedroom so unsupervised visit to Aldi and look what fell into my basket. Label said White Swan but on line research looks as if it is either Jury's Yellow or Brushfield Yellow. I think the latter.

Yes I agree, Brushfields and it looks like a good healthy plant. You should get out on your own more often Joan 😂😂😂

Probably easier to tell once you keep it outdoors for a while. The flowers in the first year can have different shades because they are kept in a greenhouse. Found this link and it says that the two varieties are virtually indistinguishable "Camellia japonica Brushfield's Yellow" https://www.trehanenursery.co.uk/Camellia_japonica_Brushfield_s_Yellow_p/c.brush.htm

@pelly unfortunately hubby knows what I am like when let loose on my own, or even with gardening friend's.
