Question please - now this has reached the top of the trellis do I pinch out the top out to make it bushier?
Yes, that's what I've been told. I look forward to seeing your progress. Keep the pictures coming! I've just pruned mine back so I can start training it again.
Right Urszula I've pruned about 1/3 off to a leaf node as you suggested but maybe I should have gone lower? @ublaszko
This is the first time I've pruned mine hard back so I'm waiting to see what will happen next. You have a nice long stem to start with though so I'd leave it longer and wait for the side shoots, so you can start getting them into a fan shape. That's my plan for this year 👍👍
Remember to feed it now after pruning (I always forget that part!) I used fish, blood and bone after pruning but also spread organic mulch to keep moisture in.
Thanks Urszula, that sounds like a good plan 👍
I think the passion has gone out of my passion flower, any suggestions?
Try a feed of tomatorite it can't hurt. I've just done mine as it's not showing any life and is woody but apparently they can fight back the year after so don't dig it up. Trim it back but leave it.
I cut about a 1/3 off a week or two back and gave it a feed of fish, blood and bone... I'll just leave it br🤨 thanks anyway Diane
Mine had gone the same. I think it's the frost, leave it alone for a bit and see if new growth emerges 😊
Mine is the same, I've cut it right back and fed it Jeremy 🤔🤔
@jpea mine doesn't look too healthy either, I've cut it back and fed it 🤞🤞🤞
It's semi-evergreen so it will bounce back once we get better weather. Monty always says 'do nothing' when there's frost damage. You can prune it once there are signs of new growth but mine hasn't done anything since November.
thanks Vanessa, it'll live or it won't, still fingers crossed 👍
