@gardengimp Graham, I have planted this in the soil it came in but surrounded by a gritty compost. However I didn't find much root and so it's soil is strongly pushed into the cups of the upside down chimney. Is there anything else you recommend I do? Thanks
@jpea for some reason the app won't let me see your photo 🤔but from what you've said, the only thing I might do is top dress with a layer of grit for drainage/evaporation reasons, aesthetics to prevent dirty rain splash from the soil, and to deter vine weevils from laying eggs.
There's so many to choose from and they're not expensive @jpea. Check out Springfield nursery near Tingley roundabout next time you're down this way, it's my fave place at the minute 😄

@jpea I've seen your other photo now, you might not have room, but that's what I do for planting up alpines just FYI 😊
Thanks Graham, I'll reconsider and will likely retransplant them to that broken plant pot idea 😊
@jpea you don't have to use grit, to top dress, I just do for the reasons above 😊As long as your drainage is good you can't really go wrong.
I still think a couple of alpines might be better though 👍

Will do @gardengimp I've repotted it until I find the best place for it 🤔😊
