Clematis 'Henryi'

#newgrowth on this lovely clematis 👍

Got lots of new growth on my various clematis. Haven't cut down the ones that need chopping, so now don't know whether to leave them or chop them and hope they sprout again! Any ideas @Justin?

Hi Joan, I haven't touched this one either and I think I'm going to leave it this year. In the past I have chopped some down to about 6-10 inches from the ground and they've been fine but I want this one to expand over a large area of fence hence leaving it! @joanboston as I'm unsure what variety you have I think it would be best to look at the advice here https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?PID=344 Hope this helps 👍

Thanks Justin, I have a good idea which ones I should cut back but some of them have new shoots all the way up and I can't bear to cut all that off!! I think I will leave some and chop some. For a small garden we do have a few. (16 different ones at the last count!)
