I've just been out to see mine. Lots of flowers this year. Do you deadhead spent flowers on your hellebores? I'm wondering if it makes any difference in terms of the length of their flowering time.

Depends... sometimes I just leave them and let them self seed. Last year I actually deadheaded mine well after they’d flowered as I like them even after they’re past their best @ublaszko

I like them after they're past their best too but I was wondering if it affects their flowering. I usually leave some spent flowers but today I cut a few back as they spoilt the look of the plant.

That I can’t answer I’m afraid @ublaszko either way mine have flowered well in the past

Yes I know that's what I though when I spotted them 😬 @SylviaDavies can't believe how quickly this year has gone! This particular one does tend to flower late Autumn though so nothing awry!

I was getting worried as there is no sign of any of mine although they had a couple of flowers late summer which was very odd! Have a good day!

Do you cut the foliage away when the flowers come through?

I usually cut old and damaged foliage out in January when new growth comes through and take out any leaves that have got back marks on etc @Garyg 👍
