I just started a cut off of my friends Christmas cactus it grew roots a few weeks ago and has been planted for 3 weeks. Was wondering if you had any tips? I’ve never taken care of one before. What type of soil is best?

Justin how often do you water this plant giving it lives in a central heated house. I've just lost one, it always felt dry..

It should be watered and kept moist during spring and summer as this is when it grows. During winter months I’ve always allowed mine to almost dry out so I’ve watered it every 7-10 days but not soaked it. They also prefer bright light which encourages more flowers but importantly not direct sunlight as this could cause scorching. Hope this helps Elaine @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom

I have my Grandma's Christmas/Easter cactus, (she passed away 1996) it's still going well!

I have an Easter cactus that i bought when i went to uni in 2001, so not quite as old as yours!
