A bowl full of #basil for a few tablespoons of #pesto. Every now and then when my bushes get a little big I go and decimate them; I take a few cuttings to propagate and the rest turns into pesto 😊 #recipe in the comments #gyo #herbs #herbsinpots #appartmentgardening

This time, the ingredient ratios for my basil pesto looked like this... 45g basil (a whole bowl full), 25g pan toasted pine nuts, 20ml macadamia oil, salt to taste. Makes around 6 tablespoons of pesto (85g) 😊 🌿cant imagine how much I would need to make a whole jar!

Pinch the tops off to encourage more lateral growth equals more basil for you to use!

Thanks @brightcolours. I have 3 pots of basil like this one that I have been hacking back at quite often because I use so much basil in my cooking. I usually cut each stem back just above the lowest set of leaves so it will branch out from there. I cut as many stems as I need for whatever I'm cooking. I learnt this the hard way. I had plant where I only picked leaves off and it ended up growing tall land lanky. I'm talking 20-30cm stems with around 10 leaves on each! Useless!
