I love growing unusual and interesting things and am teaching my son to love it too. I have a tiny mostly potted garden in Newcastle NSW.

I'm not a big fan of this one. Not as pretty as the Atherton, super invasive, and has never flowered... exactly what is the point of a nasty prickly beast that doesn't produce fruit?

How old is it?

@brightcolours This little one is only a few yeara ild but there's a big one which is 6ish years. It escaped from its pot and I am not impressed, but even the extra space didn't encourage flowering).

Six years is long enough to prove itself. What will you plant in its place?

@brightcolours Right?!? I have a pepino, a grape and atm broad beans and purple podded peas in the space where the escapee was/is! ☺ Tossing up whether I should keep hold of the tiny one just in case... it's only in a 20cmish pot so not taking up much space.

Is it a matter of pollination? @drnicko - thoughts?

@brightcolours It's not even flowering let alone setting fruit. Sone of the natives aren't very prolific... this must be one 😦

If the baby came off it, it will have the same genes... So no point keeping? Unless it's pH related?

@brightcolours Runners so absolutely genetically identical. I'm thinking what ur thinking... either it's the soil or it's a dud. I just hate throwing plants away... but I thinks it's destined for the bin (not even the compost cause it would grow from a teeny bit in there!!)

@KathyB @brightcolours not sure with this type. My English raspberry tends to need a good prune for it to flower well the next year. The runners don't tend to flower and I chop them off. Sorry if not much help!! 😎
