Always some perks to clearing out the Summer garden you get to enjoy it in your vase indoors 💜💖💜💖 #cutflowers #dahlia #euphorbia #cosmos #sedum #salvia #achillea #foliage I am now soaked through to skin from a huge downpour but don't care it won't stop me moving plants round today probably last chance before weather takes a turn for worse! Only 40 foxgloves to put in 😂😂
That looks lovely 😊😊❤❤
That’s a fantastic colour! 😍
That's gorgeous Keely and good luck with the foxgloves, mine aren't big enough yet 💜💜
Beautiful 💗
💕💕💕
That's gorgeous Keely
That's gorgeous Keely
@rachelbrooks @midnightgardener @lovemygarden65 @Mandsboo @lesliecole49 @gjones @pelly awe thank you all so much n Jane only managed to get 4 in today slow progress, but plenty of time for them yet mine are only plugs but good roots 😆
This is gorgeous Keely!💘😍
I must admit I haven't checked the roots on mine, I'll do it soon 👍👍

At last one of last years opened 💕
Some of them seem very late this year don't they 🌼🌼
@pelly very much so still waiting for two in garden to bloom 😠
I’ve one with its first buds and three to go still 👍👍
I’ve lost my one of these 😫😫
@lexijane awe hun I left this one in took its time to bloom but got there now 😊 Just! I did lose some though 😕😠
I lost too many this year hun. So annoying & it’s almost put me off growing them which is a shame coz I really like them 🤔😏
@lexijane I love them but getting bored of my varieties need to bin some of the old that I've doubles up on n get few new to keep the interest there 😄
Aww no don’t bin them. Can’t you give them away to your family. I know what you mean though 😉😁
@lexijane I will share them but mums got same as I've already give her some I'm sure someone will welcome them though 😁
😂😂😂
I have one that's been blooming all summer, and another that's just getting it's first bud.

My poor dahlias are really struggling in the heat this has just about gone brown and the buds are so tiny its not worth continuing to waste anymore hard water on it the leaves are shrivelled up its time to dry out and store can't believe its only mid August and I'm taking up dahlias already #casualtyofthisyearssummer18
The secret with Dahlia to ensure larger blooms, it to pinch off the smaller side blooms before they open. A lot of energy goes into them producing flowers, so remove as many as you can and pinch out the growing tips to encourage it to flower 😊
Mine are just about hanging in there, but like yours, the flowers are very small, I'm really praying for some of the forecasted rain this weekend 💦💦🙏
when in pots heat affects more. place pot inside larger light colored pot with more soil to insulate from heat or shade pot with other low growing pots
😥😥😥
@hayleyaj I've been growing dahlias for years and never had a failure yet they are the last to bloom in my garden right into October Hun n I have had many a cut flower from them year in year out just this year they have struggled with hard watering n heat it's now in the compost bin no point wasting anymore time on trying to revive teeny buds when leaves are like this it's been cut back to bass and put in shade now til autumn when I will take it up and dry it out to store for next year! 😥
@pelly these are my pride n joy in garden as you know my favourite Summer blooms I don't see any point trying to revive this one and wasting time watering it anymore poor thing 😞
I know they are and I'm gutted for you, it must be so upsetting 😞😞
@moore.794 they have been sat in washing up bowls at the base to keep it hydrated to no avail I have to give up at some point as just wasting good water. It will come back next year once it's been stored first year in 10 years they've ever struggled in pots they have the knock on affect from been next to a wall and window so get double the heat unfortunately but were covered at base by other pots too just not used to having this heat. The ones in shade in actual garden are doing better 😄
Oh. I see what you mean. It's good though that you can enjoy it again next year
@dan5584 signs of the times I think thankfully only a couple in a pot so still have others to enjoy. 😄
Feel for you😢

So many dahlias so just going to post a couple this has been my best performer this year tall and wide and had so many cut flowers from it but in wrong spot, likely to be last one to dig out ❤❤❤ #dahliaday
Gorgeous. One of my favourites, but not as lovely as yours 😍
@susanhumphrey333 this was the one I nearly dug out early on but left it in end have made a note to put in a big pot next year its been a beauty 😆
I think I'm going to need lots of big pots Keely as Ive decided to put them all in pots next year. Either that or make a new bed specially for them. I thought my garden was quite big, but there's just no room for them 🙄
@susanhumphrey333 I've made notes on where to put mine Sue most will be in pots but also moved a few perennials that didn't do too good so that I can put a dahlia in that spot and I'm not going to nip any out so not as bushy that go in garden some of tubers are huge that I've dug out so I've split them 😃
My tubers feel a bit spongy. Will they harden up when they dry? I don't want to store them away while they feel soft 🤔
💖💖💖
It's a real beauty Keely. I've not been happy with the positioning and size of some of mine and like you Sue @susanhumphrey333 I'm going to have another go at digging out a bed for them. 🤔🤔🤔
Beautiful 😍😍😍 im so envious, i only have 2 or 3 blooms at once.
Will you be making a bed where you have trouble with tree roots Jane 🤔 @pelly
Yes Sue. Do you remember I wanted to do it at the bottom of the front garden but couldn't, well I'm going to try at the other end near the house this time. The roots aren't visible there so I will have to check it by sticking a fork in around the area to see if it's viable. I will lose my Lavender walk, but if it works it will be worth it. I have my fingers crossed. @susanhumphrey333 😯😯😯
Fingers crossed. If it's further away from the tree you might be ok 👍 @pelly

Evening all well the wind today has well n truly finished off the garden. This dahlia is now down to 2 stems and as you can see it was gawjus 😯 hey ho roll on Spring end of an era now 🙄 Considering what's happened to those poor people in US I'm def not wining about a few plants at back end of Summer my heart goes out to all those affected so cruel n sad 😥 Stay safe peeps 😐
PS I'm not ignoring comments I can't pick any up seem to have few gremlins of late saying no internet connection! 🙃
Evening Keely yep we have a lot to be thankful for 😘
@Keely evening to you!! Not to worry about a bit of wining!! We all do it dispite all the insanity going on!! After all life does go on for the rest of us! All is important!!💘😍
Totally agree @Keely ! mine have going on just after yesterday's wind but won't be moaning as I too am horrified at what is in the news tonight! Such a waste of lives! Horrifying! Stay safe everyone!
Love these with the cosmos..💕
Evening Keely and I agree with you. So sad we should count our blessings 😔
I have had gremlins for ages now Keely. I haven't managed to see my garden properly yet but I can see one Dahlia down, but no, not moaning and totally agree with you. 😯😯😯
Evening Hun stunning dahlia and a shame about the damage,I've had to chop loads back today that got snapped off the wind but your so right it means nothing in the grand scheme of things when so tragic events are happening in the world, those poor people,I can't even imagine what the victims families are going through 😢

#pink #autumnblooms so many buds on this too early to dig out just yet 💕💕💕
Dont even think it!!
💕💕💕
@lesliecole49 will have to come out soon but its giving me lots of cut flowers for vase so I will give it a couple more weeks as still very healthy 😃
@struddles thank you 🤗
Loads more flowers than I have. Beautiful 💕💕💕
Another stunner 😍😍😍
@susanhumphrey333 @daisy-jane thanks ladies 😃😆

This is prob about best its going to get #pink #cerise 💕💞💕💞 Big #dahlia 😆
Looking fab 🖒
@Jasonsparkes1 @katgreen its a beauty but taken over border so it will go in patio pot under window next year keep it a bit smaller 😆
Looks lovely next to the Cosmos. I think I'm putting all mine in pots next year Keely. I love the flowers but apart from not getting their heights right, as you know, they are now all too close together as well 🙄
@susanhumphrey333 this is biggest one Sue and one of my cacti white ones under hedge the others are the right size but I wont nip them out or put them under window they can happily go down fence side as can carry the height there so taking lower growth plants out to allow for them for next year some will go in pots too 😆 they never get as big in pots so more manageable 👍😊
Just beautiful 💕💕
How gorgeous Keely 💗💖
Beautiful 👌😊☺️💕💕💕
@AlisaJ @titchyfra @pauline33 thank you kindly 😊
@gjones thank you sweets 😆

Maybe a pretty one but in reality this has taken over my front border at nearly 4' tall along with the cosmos this is a gardeners fail and wont be going in next year it will have a lovely big pot on the back patio instead 🙄 reminder for next year on just how big it is 💕
My cosmos is massive too and hardly any buds on it, very disappointing year 😟
@christineb I keep pondering as to dig this out and try transplant it in a pot I'm really not happy with it but its huge, the others are big too but not this big, with all rain it just keeps getting bigger everyday 😣
It would look stunning in a big pot Keely, you've got nothing to lose and think of all the space you'll have to fill with new plants 😂🌼🌸🌺
@christineb it is hiding plants under and behind it just scared of it snapping think I'm going to try though as really not happy with it! 😣
It's gorgeous Keely it looks like one I had last year, all my Dahlias go to around the 4ft it's only the happy days ones I have that stay smaller. I'm going to stake some today to stop them covering the plants in front too but that's just how I like them the bigger the better! 🤗 it will look fab in a pot too it's a beautiful colour 🌸💗
That looks a mighty big one to move Hun 🙈🙈
@mich @nessa It is a beauty but covering up the border its the width of it that hasn't helped I could cope with the height still undecided as I think it will easily snap by moving it its so heavy and thick branches I have made a note to go in a pot next year and will sleep in it before I decide what to do 😆
