@jadojado29 I do too lost a few to the beast mainly my lemon n purple ones but this was a survivor and thriving in the border now must remember to do cuttings of them all this year just incase we get another bad one 😊

@columbiariver @angiecrazycatlady @jpea to say this was only a 9cm cutting that went in late spring its about 70cm high and with dead heading has flowered non stop. It must be a good year Angie all mine are still flowering 👍😆

I have a few of these all from a small cutting from a friend's garden, they grow huge if you don't prune, I cut back once in June for a second flush ( mine like yours are still covered in flowers) then I cut back again in winter by 1/3 then I cut right back in spring to keep them around 3ft😁

@angiecrazycatlady i do same with all mine Angie got a few varieties now as they like my soil so love them and forever taking cuttings so easy to do but end up giving loads away 😁

That's me all over, who ever comes over for a coffee normally ends up leaving with a salvia 😂😂

@angiecrazycatlady mum recently put a load at end of her drive with a note saying free plants they all went then a few days later she got a note through her letterbox with a scratch card saying what a thoughtful gift and one good deed deserves another, how lovely was good to know someone appreciated them, she didn't win but the thought was there 😄

That's really beautiful, do you ever prune Salvia after flowering?

@jpea yes every year and then get a 2nd flush when they get too leggy did hot lips recently well about 4 weeks ago and its getting new flowers on again take it down to about a foot from what it was 👍

Thanks Keely, mine still has quite a few flowers on half the flower spikes so I'm reticent to crop but good to know I reduce it by about 1ft @Keely

@jpea as flowers go over just dead head them they have little side shoots that produce more you may think well its no flowers left but it will get more from side shoots so doubles flowers 👍😆
