This ROS is called Lil' Kim' Red, someone must be into hip hop. Replacing this with my not so hardy hardy hibiscus that didn't make it through the winter. Had probably the exact same ROS at the previous house in Austin and it survived Snowmageddon and 6 inches of ice on top of the soil for a week so I know this one can handle the cold!
Hardy Hibiscus is usually one of the last things to grow in late Spring. You may think you have lost it but it comes back. Mine has not broken dormancy yet. Usually in early June here then they come up quickly. Maybe yours has a chance still ?
@hkyfvr I was certainly hoping that was the case. But I scraped the trunk and no green to be found, and then when I checked the roots they were pretty much all dead as well. My neighbors who have their hibiscus in the ground started to come back in March so I feel like I gave it a fighting chance. Down here in South Texas if we have fairly mild winters, spring blooming can happen in late meteorological winter. Really hate that the hibiscus didn't make it because I really liked that plant!
@hkyfvr are you located in Canada? Yeah, it sucks about the plant but I have another in a pot that is doing great! Of course it took a little nap in the garage over winter. :) I'm sure yours will come back!
@hkyfvr oh wow that's wild! You actually get seasons up there though so I bet that's amazing. We have summer and then summer/fall, a week of winter, and then Spring/summer lol... everyone's Crepe Mrytles have already started blooming here. It's warm! I wish tulips did well down here but they just don't.

Sounds like you did all you could. Sorry you lost the plant. Hope mine comes back. This was its first Winter 🤞🤞🤞

Yes I am in central Ontario zone 5b. Shorter growing season here. The tulips are in bloom now but not much else. 😄
