do you think that in winter I can bring it back to my house? Or should I put it in the garage without heat but protected from frost? @richard.spicer.7906
Possibly either. There is a tv show on in the U.K. where the presenter cuts all the leaves off and leaves it in his potting she’s over winter. I’m not as familiar with this one, but I know a lady who might be able to help - @vec do you have this one and have any overwintering tips for Kenan?
I do have this @richard.spicer.7906 I had no problem keeping it alive in the bathroom over winter with occasional watering and I didn't do anything to the leaves 🙂 oooh actually I looked at the picture and that's a Cavendish banana not a musa basjoo
That's ok kenan, I didn't know that mine was a Cavendish when I bought it. I've learnt so much in the last year. As for red bananas, an Ethiopian banana is the same as Abyssinian banana and ensete maurelli. I got caught with that too 😂 https://www.rhs.org.uk/Plants/6397/Ensete-ventricosum/Details
And they can be a pain to overwinter. I chopped off most of the leaves, potted it back up and put it on the kitchen windowsill where it grew and grew with occasional watering.... there's no way it will fit indoors this year so I'm having a greenhouse built with heating 😂 There are other ways of over wintering including dry storing it but I haven't tried that as I don't have the space to do it
Excellent! Im really starting to like these now
Haha I love it even if in Belgium it is not easy to keep them in winter I want a ethiopian banana 😁 @richard.spicer.7906
it's a nice tree, growth is fast. it's attractive @richard.spicer.7906
You should get the red one. I’m wondering too how it will cope with winter although I plant to put mine in a garage for protection 👍🏼

A friend had told me to cut the leaves but I prefer to have other opinions. Thanks for the help @richard.spicer.7906 😁

Thanks for the information I will correct the error away. It is not always easy to differentiate when you are beginner lol @vec
No I didn't cut any leaves on mine kenan. A Cavendish banana is not frost hardy in the slightest so bring it in before the first frost
