Love Daphne 🌸
#fragrant
These are lovely plants. Love the pretty pink flowers. 💗💚💗
Beautiful one 🌸 She's still keeping me waiting here!
It's gorgeous Kerry 🌸🌸🌸
@wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom @emch @hkyfvr @pelly thank you ladies ☺️ it’s in need of a good feed but hasn’t stopped flowering and smelling gorgeous for almost 2 months! Hopefully Dudley doesn’t destroy her 😰
@jeatacake thanks Jeff 😊 it’s a ladies prerogative to keep a man waiting 😉😂 is it far off flowering?
Always welcome Kerry. Hope it survives Dudley. 🙏
We don’t have those here so it’s nice to see yours. Wish I could smell it though 👍
@hkyfvr 🤞🏻🙏🏻🤞🏻
@philstalder I couldn’t imagine they’d like the heat in California, although I wouldn’t mind it 😂 the scent really is lovely. Froot loop flowers 😋

It’s gorgeous Kerry…I love all my daphnes 🌸💗
@hkyfvr @mich thank you ladies 💕 they’re amazing plants, have everything going for them 😛 but when they flower, the scent is just 🤤🤤🤤
Always welcome. They sound divine. 😍😍
I wish I could smell it 😍😍
Fabulous 👍🌸 As usual, my Daphne is still keeping me waiting 🥱
@gjones thanks Katy ☺️ sweet and fruity but it’s strong!
@ublaszko it’s addictive. Get my fix before going into the guinea pig shed 🥴😂 happy new year to you 🥂 hope you had a great Christmas ☺️
@jeatacake typical woman 🙄😉🤣

Love the bright green foliage and the lovely flower too. Does it still smell good in December I wonder? 💚💗💚
Amazing 💕
Ooh exciting
@hkyfvr @wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom @sharonhayden thanks all 💗 one of my favourites, for the scent mostly 😋 not sure it has any fragrance yet but it’s never dry enough to find out 🌧😂
Very welcome Kerry. I wouldn’t want you out in the cold checking for perfume. 😂🥶
@hkyfvr it will be worth the chill if there is a scent 😋
I agree 😍
Nice one 👍 I must see how mine's doing. Usually a few weeks behind yours!
@jeatacake always happy to see these little pink claws 😛 hope yours are on the way 😁
Just been out to check. The buds are there but still green. If I remember rightly, they were way behind yours last winter 🤔
@jeatacake I think yours flowered in the new year 🤔 still, not long to wait 😛 how did the hospital visit go? Are you feeling better this week? x

This is lovely, do you know how well it would do in a spot that only gets the sun end of end?
#fragrant
@embob thanks Emma ☺️ this is in almost complete shade, bright but not much direct sun at all. Best it’s ever been too so I think it would do great with just a little sun at the end of the day 😁
@emch addictive scent 🤤
It's the scent i want! Jist ordered one :)
@embob that’s great 😁 you won’t be disappointed, it smells edible 🤤
I really must get one of these. It looks and sounds lovely. I like buying new plants that I've never had before ❤️❤️
@midnightgardener you’d love it Chris 😁 really low maintenance once you find its happy place. And hard to beat for winter fragrance & colour 😍 I don’t blame you spending out on plants. We can’t really do much currently so doing something that makes you happy is absolutely necessary 😛

I bet that smells divine 💞💞💞
@pelly it’s the loveliest sweet fruity smell 🤤 once all the flowers open up it perfumes the whole deck 😍
Lovely my Daphne has buds but not come out yet💗💞
@karolk thanks Carole 😀 it’s a few weeks earlier than last year but always happy to smell those flowers again 😛 yours won’t be too long from the sounds of it 😁

@jeatacake thanks Jeff 😊 can’t believe it’s still going strong!

👃
Wow! So many flowers on one shoot! 😮
@wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom she’s keeping you waiting 😜
@ublaszko one of the nicest scents ever 🤤
@jeatacake it’s crazy isn’t it! Hopefully as some fade others fill open 😋
It is! I'm looking forward to my daffodils 'Bridal Crown' which have the very same scent 😍😍😍 It's so delicious you almost want to eat it 😁😁
Its certainly lasting well as it is 👍
@ublaszko your bridal crown daffodils were perfect 😍 bonus that they smell so good too 😋
@jeatacake I checked back and it’s been in flower about a month 😯
They came in a fragrant daffodil mix but Bridal Crown seems to have the best scent. I smelled Tete a tete yesterday and it was not good 😷

Still in love with it 😍 #daphne #daphne-perfume-princess
It looks so happy there too 💕
@suerichards thanks Sue 😀 it’s transformed since I moved it into a sheltered corner. Am obsessed with it 😂
Really lovely 😊
@sharonhayden thanks Sharon 😃 looking its best right now 💞
Going from strength to strength 😍
@jeatacake thanks Jeff 😛 I post it a lot but am amazed by its transformation. Adore it 💕
Well worth a few posts 👍 Wish I could say the same about my tardy thing! 😴
@jeatacake yours still making you wait?
Yep. Just been out there to plant my new laburnum near it. Seems like it's almost frozen in time. I won't mind though if the flowers last as long when they eventually open! 😏
@jeatacake oooh, can’t wait to see the laburnum when it starts doing its thing 😍 been a month of mine in flower and it’s still looking great! Hopefully once you’re decided it’s ready to explode it’ll go on til springtime 🤞🏻
I hope so. Its certainly going to have a lot of flowers. Almost as many as yours, but it's got "watching grass grow " well beaten! 😄

@lilybee it’s so fragrant 😍 so pleased with it this year, as you can tell from the daily photos 😂
Gorgeous....wish I could smell it...👌🏼
@wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom it’s so strong now there are lots of flowers open 🤤 so fruity and pretty smelling 😋 you’ll have yours open soon 😁
Looks wonderful in full flower 😍

Again, I know, but keeps looking better and better 💚💕 #daphne #daphne-perfume-princess
Beautiful 💞
@kez001uk Looks so good Kerry. It really has made a huge difference putting it in the shade. 😊👍🏼
I really like it! Love the pink buds 😍😍
I’ve just bought our first @kez001uk
@lovemygarden65 thanks Marilyn 😀 I’m a bit obsessed with it 😅
@pixierose thank you Christine 😃 it’s improved so much but worried it’s been damaged by some 🤬 birds digging out the soil and exposing roots to the frost last night 😔
@ublaszko remind me of rhododendrons where they’re much darker on the outside. It’s just so pretty 😜
@wtwitchell6969 you won’t be disappointed 😊
Any advice on planting it when it arrives tomorrow? @kez001uk
@wtwitchell6969 they seem to do much better in shade and a sheltered spot too. Also if you’re planting in the ground they don’t like being moved at all
Okie dokie. Haven’t decided yet if to put in pot or ground. How old is yours now

Beautiful
@kez001uk I love Daphne but mine isn’t such a deep green. Do you give it any special feed? 🤔🙏🏼
Ah! Fully opening now👍💕 That'll be mine in early February! 😁
@laketitlow thanks Annette 😁 the highlight of my day is smelling these flowers 😍
@pixierose sounds like how this one was last year. If you look back mine was more like a like green. Since I moved it into a sheltered, shady corner it’s completely changed and looks fantastic! I don’t really feed it, I’m terrible for remembering 🙈
@jeatacake the scent gets stronger every day 😋 not long to wait for yours 😁
@gjones they look so different inside to what you expect from the buds 😜 bit like some rhododendrons

It’s opening 😁🤗 #daphne #daphne-perfume-princess
Lovely wait till they are all open wow🤗
Gorg 💗💗💗💗
That’s gorgeous 💕
That looks so pretty Kerry, wish we could smell it too!
That was quick! Don't forget to sniff it! 😂😁😁
Beautiful pink flowers
What a looker! 😍
@godfreye thanks Enid 😀 I can’t wait to see and smell it once it’s in full bloom 😋
@wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom thank you Elaine 😃

Wow it’s way out in front Kerry...I love them...💗
Ooooohhhhweeee! I can smell it from here!💘😍
That's going to be very pretty !! New plant to me. 😍😍
What are your winters like there? You still have plants in the ground. It must be much warmer than Minnesota.
Not much longer 😆😆😆
@queruqui thank you Queru 😀
@ukjohnny they really are great! And the smell once they flower 😍 love them for the evergreen foliage too 💚 definitely has to be your new year resolution - get a daphne 😉
@wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom seem to have found its happy place 😛 they’re such great plants 💗
@ShelleySnyder it’s going to make the guinea pig shed a less stinky experience 😉😂🤣
@sherrisgarden thank you Sherri 😃 they’re great evergreen shrubs, and the flowers smell amazing 😌

#daphne #daphne-perfume-princess
That is going to smell lovely
Wow! So many flower buds👍None on mine. Only leaf buds I think 🤔
I'm looking forward to seeing this one flower ☺ I don't think I've seen this particular one
@sharonhayden I can’t wait to smell it again 😛 only had a couple of flowers on it last year and it was so fragrant 😍
@jeatacake this is a fair bit ahead of last years flowering so hopefully yours won’t be too long 😛
@alan1111 I hope it’s going to be soon 😛 keep waiting on the buds to open but they’re slow going! The flowers are very pretty but didn’t have very many last year 🤪
Mine's showing a bit of colour now in a few buds. Hopefully more will follow 🤞
They'll be worth the wait plus you have more flowers this year
@jeatacake 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
@alan1111 win/win 😁

Another full of buds 💕 #daphne #daphne-perfume-princess
Those seem so great 😃 I bet the smell will be wonderful 😍
Plenty of buds there Kerry the whole plant is looking good. What is that you have growing beside it thanks
@sabbanrula the scent is amazing when it flowers 😋 smells like fruit salad 😍 it’s a bit of a difficult plant but well worth the effort once you find its happy place ☺️
@alan1111 thanks Alan 😛 it’s looking the best it ever has 😁 the pots either side have little heathers in 😊
😋😋 fruit salad 😁

😁
Love Daphne....🌸
@wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom gorgeous aren’t they 😋 just didn’t expect it to be flowering already 😜
That is early. The flowers last a while too :)
It is a bit early....it was definitely after Christmas when mine were in flower but having said that mine are well in bud.....
@jeatacake hoping the cold delays them opening for a while. It’s about 5-6 weeks ahead of last flowering 😐
@wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom perhaps they bud up early, like rhododendrons and the like 🤔 didn’t notice it last year as it was hidden away so could be typical for it 😜
If they do open soon, the cold will mean they last longer when open I think 🤔
That’s possible Kerry...👍🏼
@jeatacake even better 😋
- Mid Autumn 2019
- 29
Finally back to its proper colour 💚
@gjones I’m assuming it was position. I had it in full sun and it looked almost yellow so moved it into the shade after flowering and it’s come back to look better than ever. Everything I’ve read says full sun/part shade, now it’s in full shade and thriving 😂
@gjones I think that’s what it is, the sun is different everywhere so it’s just too much in some places I guess. I’m just hoping it’ll still flower where it is 🤞🏻
I moved my Daphne and she looks ill...😏
@gjones that sounds perfect! Keeps it sheltered to a large extent so protects from a lot of weathers. There are so many varieties of Daphne but they’re all so pretty. And the scent 😍
@wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom I read they hate to be moved but can recover from the shock after a while. Some plants sulk more than us humans 😂 One benefit of container gardening is I don’t have to dig them up to move 😜
- Early Winter 2019
- 23
Not sure why it’s such a light green now 😕 and the brown patches, is that cold damage? @jeatacake
It could be several things so I think you might need to try different things and rule them out one by one. Check the soil and see if it feels wet. They are quite prone to overwatering so you should let the soil dry out between waterings and make sure it doesn't sit in wet soil. 😊 Also is it in a large pot? They have deep roots so need a pot twice the size of the pot it came in originally to let it grow out and establish. ☺
@ublaszko to be honest I rarely water it, only in summer when it feels dry. I had one before and killed it by overwatering 😂 so I leave it alone now. It’s in a good sized pot, well drained and never standing in water. I read frost can damage the leaves this way but we haven’t hardly had any here so not sure that’s the issue either 😜
It doesn't look like frost damage and the temps would have to be -5 for a prolonged period. It's not leaf chlorosis either as it isn't showing darker leaf veins. I think it looks like nitrogen deficiency because it seems to have lighter centre similar to my hellebore earlier this year. I don't know why it would have nitrogen deficiency though. Can you see any white build up on the inside or outside of the pot?
@ublaszko you’re so knowledgeable 😜 I’ll take a look at the pot tomorrow. If it has white build up then I just need to feed it a high nitrogen plant food?
If there's white build up you'll need to rub it off and flush the soil with plenty of warm water and let it dry out before doing anything else with it. Otherwise, I'd use slow-release general purpose feed but wait until it finishes flowering and shows signs of new growth. ☺ I've had some experience with nitrogen deficiency but it could also be something unrelated. It shouldn't hurt though to give it a small dose of slow release food when it's actively growing.
@ublaszko I’ll give it some food tomorrow because I can’t even remember when I last fed it 🙈 then see about the build up and will go from there. Thank you Urszula ☺️
Annual spring feed should be enough. Check the salt build up first though. You don't want to add fertiliser on top of salt toxicity. 😅
@ublaszko oh yeah 🙈 I should be banned from having anything nice 🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂
I think as @ublaszko says, it may need a feed, as if it's in a pot or a tub, the nutrients decline much faster than if in the ground
I believe you have a lot of awesome info to work with from @ublaszko @humus1 @jeatacake Good luck🍀🍀🍀

Doesn’t look too impressive but the scent is 🤤 @jeatacake
@gjones thank you 😊
Mine are the same, but yours also has loads more buds still to open 👍
The scent is fabulous isn't Kerry. 💕
@jeatacake there’s a few but they seem to have put the brakes on 😂
@lilybee it’s amazing Sue! It’s a lot sweeter than I would think from the name 😜
I had 6 flowers open when I checked them at the weekend, but loads more still just taking their time! 😁
@jeatacake you’re definitely winning the Daphne race! Still only have the 2 🤣
Really? That's odd. Will see where mine's up to tomorrow when off! 👍
@jeatacake yup, mine is still the same today 😕 how’s yours going?
Probably about 50-50 flowers open now which is about 15 open I'd say. Strangely though, the overall scent from it is just the same 🤔
@jeatacake wow, I bet it looks fantastic! Mine is still no further forward. Hoping the Epsom salts kick in soon and it starts to regain some of its colour. And I checked the smell too, you really don’t notice it unless you get right up to the flowers 😕

First ever flowers 😁💗
New plant to me. Seems like it's going to be a spectacular flower !! (Photo in encyclopedia)
@sherrisgarden I just took a look at the encyclopedia photos and you’re right, looks gorgeous when the flowers open 😍 can’t wait to find out how it smells either. Supposedly highly fragrant 😋
Oh cool !! I missed that part
The perfume would have to be my most favourite ever!! Dont know if you have the breakfast cereal fruit loops? But it smells like that to me Kerry😁 @sherrisgarden 😁
Fruit Loops smell !!! I must go look for this plant !!! @Muzz67
@Muzz67 oh I really can’t wait to smell it now 🤤 it’s such an unassuming looking plant but now it’s started to flower it’s really standing out. Just love it 😁
Nice 👌 My Daphne (sounds like an elderly aunt!) looks to be at the same stage. I must take a fresh look at it soon & not miss it flowering as I normally do. Meant to be very scented too, but always missed that too 🤨
@jeatacake 😂😂😂 good ol’ auntie Daph 🤣🤣🤣 does it not stay in flower for long? Mine has never bloomed before so I’m clueless 🤪
I'd best not miss mine then, as it has a few buds on it. Before it's only had the odd one.
@jeatacake something for us both to look forward to 😁
Absolutely.... if my addled brain remembers 😁

Beautiful flowers. 🤍💗
@pelly @emch @hkyfvr thanks ladies 😁 it’s a plant that has it all! But the scent is the best part 😋
Always welcome. The scent must be lovely. 🤍💗🤍
@hkyfvr a nice perfume before entering the guinea pig shed 😂 have 4 highly scented plants right outside the door 🤣
Good planning. A good smell to disguise the not so good piggy smell. 😂
@hkyfvr anything that’ll help! 😆
😂🤣
