Love this, mine is blueing up now 💙💙💙
Very lovely flowers. Love blue in the garden 💙
Looking good 💙💙
@pelly it’s almost electric blue isn’t it 💙 can’t miss it 😛
@hkyfvr thanks Diane ☺️ I’m with you, love anything blue 💙
@jeatacake thanks Jeff 😊 another one that’s doing unusually well this year 😋
That's a nice one, nice big heads. A good thing about eryngium they multiply 😉
Always welcome Kerry. Blue is the best. 💙💙
@alan1111 they’re just lovely when there’s a decent group of plants 💙

Really like this. Lovely colours and shape. 💙
@hkyfvr they’re great structural plants, not to mention that colour 🤤
Love that colour. 💙
@kez001uk I have some of these. Incredible sight in the winter to see Gold Finches all over them 💛
@ericplummer I remember you saying about the finches. I must leave these alone in autumn 🤭

It's doing really well, even with all that rain we've been having. 👍
@ublaszko I don’t know how 😜 one random stalk came out of nowhere and did this. The others died off already
Looks like it did really well I have one sea holly and it never flowered this year
@alan1111 thanks Alan 😁 they don’t seem the most reliable of plants 😂 Urszula’s didn’t flower either 😜
Not the most quality for your money then 😕
@ublaszko I’ve found that with many of my bulbs 😫
And yet it's that time of the year and Wilko awaits 😂😂
@ublaszko I’m trying to stay away from there 😂 trying...
I am too but Pudgy is going to run out of cat food in 4 days... 😁
@ublaszko wilko beware!!! 😅
😂😂😂 I made a list... 😰
@ublaszko oh no 🤣 spring bulbs, here she comes!

Well that came out of nowhere @ublaszko
😂😂 Oh heck, I better check my bin! 😂 It's such a beautiful plant, I'm all the more annoyed it doesn't want to grow in my garden. My mum sent me the picture of her eryngium the other day.
@ublaszko 😂 it’ll be pushing up the lid 🤣 dunno where this flower stalk appeared from 😜 they’re beautiful when they do what they’re supposed to. You aren’t neglectful enough for them I reckon 😉
😂😂 Honestly, I left them to themselves but the soil is too wet for them, especially after we've had proper monsoon for the last couple of weeks. I need to add grit to the flowerbeds but would probably have to dig up my eryngium so that it sits on top of the grit. Unfortunately, eryngiums don't like being transplanted. @kez001uk
@ublaszko considering they like to be treated badly they’re very diva-like!! I guess there are just some plants not meant for our gardens 😜
But why 😭 @kez001uk
@ublaszko some plants are plain evil, that’s why 🤬😅

Kerri, this is pretty but I hated this plant in my garden. It got gangley and wasn't attractive....no more to be seen.
@maldavis hi Mark 🙋🏻 I must admit I’m not a fan of the overall plant, I just love the flowers (are they called flowers even? 😜) It’s the first time I’ve managed to get them to this stage 😂
😍😍 Love them but they don't love my garden. I might give them a go again in a container because the one in the ground isn't showing any signs of flowering for the 3rd year in a row.
Great shot! And I love the sea holly, it’s a lovely contrast and my daughter had it in her wedding bouquet so happy memories 👰 so may be use it as a cut flower?..
@gjones they sound like little thugs! Glad I have mine in a pot now 😂
@ublaszko I remember they didn’t flower for you last year but thought they would this year 😜 hopefully they’ll behave better in a pot!
@carolecuttingitfine thank you Carole 😁 I can imagine they looked beautiful in a bouquet and so nice when flowers bring back memories ☺️ great suggestion! Gets rid of the scraggly foliage then and can still enjoy the best bits 😛
I was hoping they would too especially after I saw flowerbuds on the hollyhock. The eryngium looked good until the heavy rain started but still no sign of flowering spikes.
@ublaszko the rain made a few of mine flop and die but guess that being in a pot saved the few I have left. Wonder why yours isn’t flowering 🤔
It could be that the soil stays wet for too long after heavy rain or is too rich. I tend to be generous with mulch and fertiliser although I made sure to avoid doing it around my eryngium.
@ublaszko they’re fussy ones! But nice to have plants that thrive on neglect. Just you’re a generous gardener 😅
Yep, that's why three succulents I had all died pretty quickly 😅

@gjones I had no idea it was that invasive 😧 I’ll have to warn my sister before she plants her bulbs in the ground 😂 I’d love to see it colour up but I don’t think it’s likely this year 😟
Lovely photo!!! It has elegance...
@kamaki thank you ☺️ wanted to see it properly flower and colour but it’s not looking likely
Maybe next year... Why do you think that is?
@kamaki I think it was in shade too much of the summer when I was having landscaping work done. Never got much chance to grow 😜
Have you moved it to a sunnier spot now?
@kamaki I have but might need to be moved again to an even summer spot. Think it’s a proper sun worshipper 😂
It knows what it likes lol
@kamaki it really does 😂 don’t blame it either! Wouldn’t mind a little more sun right now 🤣
That's for sure 😂

Better late than never I guess 🤣
It is late for it's first flowers this year!
@jeatacake dunno why it’s so behind 😂 maybe needs a new spot in the garden for next year
Does sea holly floeer
Flower
@gavy it does. Look at the encyclopedia link, it’s thistle-like
Will do kerry x
Is it in the shade? That's the only thing I can think of that would hold it back? 🤔
@jeatacake it was for quite a while because I forgot what was in the pot so kept it out the way 😂

Help me identify this plant #plantid
That's definitely a variety of eryngium/sea holly ☺
@ublaszko @Jasonsparkes1 thank you both very much 😁 I knew I’d planted some but thought they’d come to nothing. Not looking like it’ll come to much this year but at least it’s alive 🤣
I've had mine 3 years and I'm still waiting for them to flower. They don't like being transplanted or fed or watered lol I did all three last year 😅
@ublaszko shocked the poor little fellas 😂 planted mine in spring but think I’ll be in flowerless club with you this year 😞
I'm going to give mine another year but I don't think they're suitable for my garden as they don't like clay soil.
@ublaszko such a shame but can use the space for something else 😛
I've struggled with that particular spot as it's behind a gorgeous miniature rose (the one that looks like your red one) and I don't want to draw the eye away from it. I might go for another evergreen plant to match variegated osmanthus and a blueish green false cypress that are already there. 😆😆😆
@ublaszko fascinates me the amount of thought you put into each plant. I wish I had a mind that worked in that way
Haha! I think that's my scientist's brain doing 😅 Weirdly enough, for me a garden is like an experiment and I like to understand how things work or don't work. I can't help it 😅😅
@ublaszko I try to do the same but I get lost 😂 just trial and error a lot of the time 🙈
It's all trial and error for me 😅

Lovely colour
Sea Holly is so pretty. The colour is amazing 😍😍
Beautifully captured 💙💙💙
@charlotte @hkyfvr @pelly @gjones thanks ladies 😁 I usually cut them down once the flowers go over but I’m learning to leave things and glad I did! 💙💜
Very welcome Kerry. I am going to try to leave some of my things this year too. Good for the birds and other wildlife and adds interest in the Winter. Now I have to convince hubby as he likes to cut things down. 🤷♀️🤷♀️ 😆
Lovely photo 💙
@hkyfvr 😂 your husband sounds like me! I always tried to have a tidy winter garden but things did much better this year after I left them last winter. Plus I was talking to someone who said their sea holly was adored by finches so anything you help the birds I’m good with 😁
@churchfarmgarden thank you Sue ☺️
I was reading up on leaving things for the goldfinches and giving wildlife places to hide so if I can talk him into leaving some things it will be good. 🤷♀️🤷♀️
@hkyfvr I wish you and the birds luck 😛
Thanks Kerry 👍😁 @kez001uk
