I lost mine through the winter even though they were well mulched. The garvineas are supposed to be frost hardy so I was gutted 😞😞

@jeatacake they are supposedly hardy to -4 but after reading what happened to Jane’s I think I’ll protect them just to be safe. Although I just looked and they don’t have a long lifespan anyway, only 3 years before they need replacing 😔
Ones I've had never lasted even a year, but they've always been one of the plants I've never had success with 😒 I'd definitely be thinking of bringing it into the greenhouse if it was me.

@kez001uk Ok, are they outdoor Gerberas? I got a gerbera as a mothers day present and have left it outside all summer and it has flowered like mad. I was thinking of bringing it in the house soon - might split it too. 😊 Thanks.
@anges the 2 I have are outdoors ones 😁 I didn’t realise most weren’t hardy but I checked the card these came with and they go to -5 apparently. I hope so anyway 😂 they seem to flower forever don’t they! I wonder if bringing it in the greenhouse might keep it flowering through winter 🤔 May be worth a try 😋 yours is big enough to split already? 😯 lucky!

It can, but growing these from seed could be a challenge, not that I've ever tried.

Absolutely. I try some potentially impossible to grow seeds here, but that is the motto to remember "nothing to lose" 👍
