@charlie30 thanks Steph 😁 it’s a little bit different to most hydrangeas but it’s a pain to get it flowering regularly 😜

It certainly is different from the ones I've seen but the flowers are just so pretty. Wonder why it's hard to flower regularly? Is it to do with pruning or is she just a fussy lady 😂💖 @kez001uk

@charlie30 I expect pruning as I’m a bit snippy-happy ✂️😂 and also when we get a late frost it’ll kill off the new growth 😡 these ‘Double Dutch’ ones aren’t as hardy either

I’ve had a few like.....just been thinking did you cut it back by any chance cos I’ve had them that take two seasons to come back 🤷🏼‍♀️

I scrolled through and saw previous flowers from this, I can see why you're disappointed!! I had a few little dud hydrangeas from last year that I dug up and put in pots in the shade... they grew SO MUCH in their new location but no blooms. I'm assuming because thay variety grows on old wood, it didn't produce for me. Could that be the case for you?

What a shame. It was so beautiful in flower. At least it looks very lush and healthy 💚

@wagsmomthompsonbtinternetcom I’m thinking maybe the late frost killed off whatever flower buds there were. Read today they flower on old wood and know these got hit pretty hard by frost in late spring 😜 always next year I guess 🙄😂

@jmlincoln I think you’re right, these do flower on old wood and got damaged pretty bad by frost earlier this year. They were so pretty last year but I’d only just got them in early summer so they’d been protected through spring. I may need to do that with these ones as they don’t seem as resilient 😐

@jeatacake it really was and had high hopes for it this year. But now I know it flowers on old wood I’ll have to protect it from frost I think 🥴 good thing the leaves are turning pretty colours 😅

@joanb it is but I guess it’s got me to read up on them and now I know a little about this kind I can hopefully get it to flower next year 🤞🏻

Yeah same here, two of mine haven’t flowered and my neighbour has a large one which didn’t either! Weird year. I know I did have to trim dead buds after a lateish frost so next year not touching it at all 😂

@jmlincoln it feels like a defeat when they don’t flower 😜 but hopefully now we know there will be an abundance of blooms next year 🤞🏻😁
