Beautiful flower 💙💚🤍💜
@BillWatson I haven't cut mine back in years, seems to do ok?
@BillWatson if in doubt, check my plants. Took a photo of one yesterday 👍
Such a beautiful unique flower! 💙💚💜
They're great aren't they! Mine is full of buds now.
@BillWatson they’re amazing aren’t they 💙 I cut mine back but it’s purely because I don’t have the space for them to keep growing as fast as they do 😂 I cut them back to around 1’ in autumn but might be better leaving the cutting back until spring if you live in a colder part of the country
@solly1961 thanks Mark 😀
@cyndi thank you Cyndi 😃
@suzieshadow1227gmailcom they’re so exotic looking 💙
@jeatacake absolutely! Amazes me still that they grow here 😜 is that your outdoor one that’s covered in buds?
@gjones thank you Katy 😄

Lovely 💙💚 Still, only one flower open on mine, but plenty of buds.
Fab flower 📷, lovebthe blue variety.. Max of 2 open anyone time on mine but bare now, waiting for that big glowing yellow thing to appear me thinks. 🌞🤍💙💚
Wow!! #blueflowerlove
I remember my mom having this plant when I was little. Doesn't it grow some sort of orange fruit? We (myself, siblings and neighborhood friends) used to love squishing them 🤪 My mom always got mad at the mess we created 🤣
Simply stunning!💘😍
@jeatacake thanks Jeff 😃 yours are pacing themselves 😉
@solly1961 thank you Mark 😃 I’ve found that too! Put a video on Instagram yesterday and had 2 white and 2 blue open. Thinking about it I don’t think I’ve ever seen more than 2 open at any one time, on mine at least 🤔
@saco they’re impressive looking things aren’t they 💙
@jmlincoln 🤣 love that! I think they fruit if you leave them but I deadhead too much and never get to see the fruits 😜 must remember to leave them this time, then I’ll think of this when I see the fruits 🤣
@ShelleySnyder thanks Shelley 😄 always amazes me we can grow something so tropical looking over here 🤯
My pleasure! Amazes me here too!💘😍

I find this one so difficult to train as it grows so quickly once the roots are established. I ended up pruning it back again last week to keep it in check.
@ublaszko I’ve been reading your posts about it tangling and looking a mess. I had the same problem. I’ve tried to train it a bit but it never does what I want 😂 if I cut it back how much would I leave?
I'm not sure tbh. 😅 I cut mine back to the top of the fence as it was getting tangled with my neighbour's ivy and then I cut all the wild looking side stems. I think people tend to use passionflower as a green screen to cover up the fence and just let it fill out the space. But I'd like to get an open framework between the stems so I can see better the shape of the leaves. I'm just in love with the leaves, how big and shiny they are so I want to show them off.
@ublaszko mine isn’t very big at the moment so maybe I’ll leave it a bit to see where it goes 😂 would look lovely where you can see the leaves better, they’re really attractive. Mine need to green up a bit yet though!
It does look a bit yellowy green now that you mentioned it. Apparently the best time to prune them is when they start growing again in spring but they can be trimmed/tidied up at any time of the year. The foliage is so interesting. This year mine had really big leaves but I don't know if it's because I trimmed off all side stems or because of all that sunshine. Probably a bit of both. 👍
@ublaszko I left it too long before potting on after buying it so it wasn’t doing great. It’s improving now though. I might just level it off and give it a bit of a boost. Yours always looks fantastic so whatever you’re doing is working!
Don't feed it this year though. Summer fertilising should finish by 1st August. ☺ You could mulch it thickly while the weather is wet to keep moisture in, protect it from frost and add nutrients.
@ublaszko I’ll definitely do that for winter, thanks Urszula 😁
It just occurred to me that my passionflower is too dense as in there are too many stems for my liking. It's just a feeling but I think I now know what I'm doing with it and that I need to keep thinning it out 👍 I actually had a similar dilemma with red jasmine until I thinned it out so I think it might be a general issue for me with climbers 😅😅 Now that I thinned out my red jasmine it looks light and airy so I think when there are lots of stems it makes a plant look heavy and grounded. 😂😂
@ublaszko I guess because you’re not wanting to grow it for screening you can thin it out to show it off better. Will certainly look fantastic when it’s not a huge clump of green
That's a good description! That's what it feels like - like a lump of green 😂😂 Or a blob of green 😂😂 I don't want to be solid green screening as it will just feel like another type of wall to replace the fence wall 😂
@ublaszko like a leafy slimer from ghostbusters 😉 I like the idea of showing it off as opposed to using it as screening. Might be another idea I “borrow” from you 😋

Must avoid the plants out front of the supermarket 🙈
@gjones that’s exactly what they are! 🤣 I forget what I went for in the first place after I’m done looking at the plants 🤣 and having some work done in the garden so buying anything new is a terrible idea, but someone has to buy them right? 😆
#passion-flower #passiflora-caerulea #blue-passion-flower
@gjones me either 😂 they do produce fruit but it’s supposedly not that nice. I have had a couple of fruits but they drop before becoming anything 😜
