The petals are starting to unfurl 😍 #azalea #evergreen-azalea #azalea-stenopetalum-linearifolium

This one is fascinating, you'd never know its an azalea 💞💞💞

So unique and pretty. You have such captivating plants. 💚💗

As Jane @pelly says, you'd never guess that was an azalea about to flower!

One of my favs of your plants! If I ever come across another one I'll snatch it up! But in the meantime I'll enjoy yours!💘😍

@pelly @hkyfvr @jeatacake @ShelleySnyder @KOutdoors thank you all 😄 starting to see how strappy the petals are going to be! Taking its time to open but am really looking forward to seeing how it turns out 😋

@ShelleySnyder did you grow this before? Your azaleas look amazing every year 😍

Always welcome. It will be lovely 💞

I can't say I grew it but I can say I had one! When we saw it both the hub's and myself about broke our necks getting to it and needless to say we bought it! That must have been about 40 years ago, we've never seen another one!😪🤦♀️ after we planted it it just took its sweet time dying away and we never did see it bloom! They called it a spider azalea, we were so disgusted and disappointed and not till you showed yours have I seen another one! I'm keeping my fingers crossed 🤞 for your v

Success! I know you will make it thrive and be beautiful!!💘😍

So am I 😍

@ShelleySnyder I’m so sorry you didn’t get to see it bloom 😔 really hope you come across another 🙏🏻 fortunately for me this came as a decent sized plant so there’s a little less chance I’ll kill it off before it flowers 😂 I’m hoping so anyway 😜

Very lovely foliage. Azaleas are so beautiful. Can’t wait to see the flowers. Freezing rain right now here. Hope my hyacinths and tulips will be ok. 😩🤞🤞

That looks unusual 💚💞💚

@hkyfvr freezing rain 😮 just as your bulbs were getting going too 🙈

@pelly @KOutdoors it looks weird & wonderful from the photos I’ve seen online. The flowers have very narrow petals, a little spiky-looking I guess. Can’t wait to see them 😋

Yes we had it on and off and the warning is out for more. Tomorrow up to 8 degrees. Typical March weather for us. 🤦♀️

@hkyfvr that’s crazy extreme! Bit like here at the moment: 18° in the day, 1° at night 🥵🥶

So nice to have 18 degrees though. They said it would be colder than usual this March and April. 🙁

@hkyfvr not what you wanted to hear 🥶 will that leave you with a decent length of warm weather still?

No it isn’t thanks. I guess May will be Spring and maybe the beginning of June. It usually goes from cool to really hot a lot faster each year. Spring gets shorter and Winter longer. Hopefully I will see my Spring flowers for a few weeks. 🤞🤞🤞

@hkyfvr it’s so difficult to plant for seasons you don’t know when they’ll happen, or how long for 😔

So true. That is why I have not planted many spring flowers until last year. I saw everyone else’s and could not resist. 🤷♀️😆

I would never have guessed this was an azalea, but I like it 💗👍
@jeatacake it’s not much like a typical azalea is it 😜 wanted a plant for my aunt who passed last September. Saw this and it was as unique as she was - meant to be 🥰
No, not at all, but a great reason for getting it 🙏
@jeatacake have a few memory plants and does make you think of the person each time you see them. And when they’re doing well I like to think they’re tending to them from the great beyond 🥰
I know exactly what you mean. I have several from my mother's garden, who passed away 5 years ago. More recently, a wallflower Bowes Mauve, from my niece's bloke's mother who passed away in February. 🙏🥰
@jeatacake that’s a beautiful variety 😍 such a nice way to remember someone, especially if the plant came from their garden. Your mums rhododendron is a prime example 🥰
I'd fancied having one of these for years & wondered why I could never find seeds for it. I suspect it's a sterile hybrid & fortunately a true perennial, which normal ones aren't. Cheers Kerry. I'm looking forward to that rhododendron flowering again soon 😊
@jeatacake you’ve taught me something new! Thought all wallflowers were perennial 🤯
It's a bit if a trade off I suppose? Most are biennial or short-lived perennials but at least they do set seed, whereas Bowes Mauve doesn't 😏
@jeatacake aaah, that makes sense. Guess they always seem perennial when they self seed endlessly. Same as foxgloves and the like
Yes & if like foxgloves, you'll never get rid of them! 😏
